Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, “All of us are inspired by what is happening in Libya” one year ago and she praised the Libyan people for “taking their country back.” Now, just one day after the 9-11 attacks and the morning after the Islamic attacks that left a US Ambassador and three Us citizens dead she asks, “How can this happen in a country we help liberate, in a city (Benghazi) we helped save from destruction?”
Clinton said, “This was an attack by a small and savage group. Not the people or government of Libya,” as she spoke at the State Department.
While she praised Ambassador Chris Stevens saying “Everywhere that Chris and his team went in Libya — in a country scarred by war and tyranny, they were hailed as friends and partners,” she failed to address the aid that we gave to Al Qaeda in taking over Libya.
She did however point out that “when the attack came yesterday, Libyans stood and fought to defend our post. Some were wounded. Libyans carried Chris’ body to the hospital and they helped rescue and lead other Americans to safety.”
“The friendship between our countries, borne out of shared struggle, will not be another casualty of this attack,” Clinton said at the State Department Wednesday. “A free and stable Libya is still in America’s interest and security, and we will not turn our back on that, nor will we rest until those responsible for these attacks are found and brought to justice. We are working closely with the Libyan authorities to move swiftly and surely.”
While it is true that there were many that attempted to help Stevens and the other Americans after the attack, one has to wonder what Clinton is thinking here or if she is even thinking at all. You cannot continue to support regimes that are evil and not expect it to backfire in your face. This is exactly part of the problem that Congress attempted to address against Leon Panetta when he so pompously stated that international coalition trumps the Constitution.
Obama and the Clinton State Department aided those who took over Libya. They helped terrorists take over the nation, which resulted in the death of Muammar Gaddafi and now she asks “How could this happen?” Well Hillary, in the words of Bill Engvall, “Here’s your sign.” The fact the woman has to ask the question that she did indicates that she has no business being Secretary of State.
