Apparently Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is OK with an unconstitutional executive order by Barack Obama that would put in place cybersecurity measures that the U.S. Senate voted down. At a cybersecurity summit hosted by National Journal in Washington, D.C. on Friday, she claims that she does not use email at all.
When asked whether she integrated it into her life, and did she take special security measures, had an iTunes account or Amazon account and used various passwords, ‘Big Sis’ answered, “Don’t laugh, but I just don’t use email at all.”
When she was asked whether she doesn’t use email because it was “too time-consuming” or “for security purposes,” Napolitano answered, “For a whole host of reasons. So I don’t have of my own accounts, and … I’m very secure.”
The interviewer, Shane Harris, who is a senior writer for the Washingtonian, responded, “Yeah, you’re off the grid.
“Some would call me a Luddite, but that’s my own personal choice, and I’m very unique in that regard,” Napolitano said. A Luddite is someone who is opposed to any new technology.
The interview concluded with Harris saying exactly what we are all thinking, “especially in Washington.”
Does anyone actually buy into the fact that Napolitano does not use some form of email? I would think it was mandatory in the office she holds. I could be wrong, but apparently she is OK with Barack Obama using executive order to stifle our security and begin the federal government’s power grab on the internet. Just last week she testified before hte Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs and said the executive order was “close to completion. She said, “DHS is the Federal government’s lead agency for securing civilian government computer systems and works with our industry and Federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial government partners to secure critical infrastructure and information systems.”
What the committee should have done was demand they cease and desist the EO as only Congress has authority to write legislation, not the executive branch, but they didn’t do it. Now we are expected to just roll over and allow the Obama administration to just do more of what they want, the Constitution and the people be damned.
