After Boston Mayor Thomas Menino wanted to boycott Chick-Fil-A last month and keep them from coming into his town, the fast food franchise broke all records in sales on the National Chick-Fil-A appreciation day. Though he sent an angry letter to Chick-Fil-A’s President Dan Cathy blasting his views of traditional, biblical marriage, it became apparent that his views were not only against Christianity and its values, but also against free speech and he demonstrated that he would lower himself to economic and political bullying to keep Chick-Fil-A out of Boston.
One thing is for sure, he is not about to have anything to do with Chick-Fil-A, even if there is one of those delicious chicken sandwiches staring him in the face. When tested to see if he would stick by his assertions concerning the restaurant, the Boston Herald reported that he passed the test.
Menino, who led the protest against the fast-food chain because of the CEO’s stance against gay marriage, is staying in a hotel building in Charlotte that includes a dreaded Chick-fil-A just downstairs from the hotel lobby.
So the Truth Squad thought that would be a good opportunity to make a peace offering to the mayor — a No. 1 combo meal sandwich on a whole-wheat bun.
But Menino did not take the bait. The mayor actually made a face and recoiled when presented with the tasty snack, and refused to even touch it.
“No Chick-fil-A!” he said.
I’ll venture to say that is the mayor, was hungry enough he would take up one of those sandwiches in a heartbeat and the funny thing is, if things were bad enough that the mayor was actually starving, Chick-Fil-A would probably feed him for free and they would do it with a smile.
