Cancer Ad Turns Malignant

What has been labeled the nastiest, most vicious ad of the 2012 campaign so far is not only a lie, but the Obama campaign lied about knowing about the man in the ad, which was produced by a pro-Obama SuperPAC. Priorities USA released the ad which basically claims that Mitt Romney is responsible for the man in the ad, Joe Soptic, losing his wife to cancer. The title of the ad is “Understands.”

According to the ad, Mr. Soptic was laid off from GST Steel, which was owned by Romney’s company Bain and as a result he lost his health benefits.

Here’s how the ad reads:

When Mitt Romney and Bain closed the plant, I lost my healthcare, and my family lost their healthcare. And a short time after that my wife became ill.

I don’t know how long she was sick and I think maybe she didn’t say anything because she knew that we couldn’t afford the insurance, and then one day she became ill and I took her up to the Jackson County Hospital and admitted her for pneumonia and that’s when they found the cancer and by then it was stage four. It was, there was nothing they could do for her.

And she passed away in 22 days.

I do not think Mitt Romney realizes what he’s done to anyone, and furthermore I do not think Mitt Romney is concerned.

Understand that Mr. Soptic is also the same individual that the Obama campaign used in its very first Bain Capital attack ad.

Now Team Obama is claiming they did not know the story of Joe Soptic. Fox News reports,

Asked about the spot, Obama campaign adviser Robert Gibbs stressed that the super PAC is not connected to the campaign.

“This is an ad by an entity that’s not controlled by campaign. I certainly don’t know the specifics of this man’s case,” he said on MSNBC.

Under questioning, he said again: “I don’t know the specifics of this person’s case.”

Obama campaign manager Stephanie Cutter said on CNN,

“I don’t know the facts about when Mr. Soptic’s wife got sick, or the facts about his health insurance.”

All of this is simply lies. The Obama campaign has known all along about Mr. Soptic’s story. They not only ran the previous video, but they started a website RomneyEconomics.com in which they displayed numerous slides on Mitt Romney, GST Steel and Joe Soptic.

According to Politico the campaign even had a conference call with Mr. Soptic.

On the May 14 Obama campaign call, Soptic detailed his wife’s illness and death.

“After we lost our jobs we found out that we were going to lose our health insurance and that our pensions hadn’t been funded like Bain promised they would be,” Soptic said then. “I was lucky enough to find another job as a custodian in a local school district. That gave me some health insurance but I couldn’t afford to buy it for my wife. A little while later she was diagnosed with lung cancer. I had to put her in a county hospital because she didn’t have health care. And when the cancer took her away, all I got was an enormous bill. That put a lot of stress on me. I thought I would be paying it off until I died myself.”

While there may be questions surrounding all sorts of issues with Mitt Romney, this one is definitely a shot below the belt. It is outrageous that a sitting president would sink to such despicable advertising and that those who support him would do so, but I suppose we’ve come to expect this from the Democrat Party and their minions.

    Obama’s America is today’s California–complete with $100 billion taxpayer funded bullet trains to nowhere; out of control environmental extremists who have destroyed family farms and left some of the most fertile farm land in America fallow in order to protect a three inch fish; permanent high unemployment; government policies hostile to small business job creators; crippling high taxes; an abysmal real estate market; bloated government that wastes taxpayer money; endless budget shortfalls due to massive unfunded liabilities; city after city declaring bankruptcy; and a state government run by, in the words of one Wall Street Journal writer, “a brothel of environmentalists, lawyers, public-sector unions and legislative bums.”

    We can’t afford Obama’s vision. Our children can’t afford it. Today we are over $15 trillion in debt and running up trillion dollar budget deficits year after year for as far as the eye can see. And our “leaders” have no plan to stop it! President Obama and this Congress don’t even have the fundamental blueprint—a budget!—to outline where they intend to take us as they merrily roll along with their out of control spending and constant increases of our debt “limit.” Our debt to China alone is more than we can ever hope to pay off in multiple generations. Such debt and dependence on foreign nations weakens us in countless ways. And yet our government keeps on spending despite the risks and despite conscientious, hardworking citizens telling them to just stop it. Our debt is growing by $3 million per minute. This debt, in conjunction with Obama’s massive government over-reaches like Obamacare, has strangled the private sector, which in turn has stifled job growth and slowed all economic growth. The only way to get our country moving again is to get back to basics like normal people do with our home and small business budgets! That means we must live within our means, get government out of the way of our job creators, develop the God-given natural resources we have been blessed with to provide real jobs and real energy security, and stop growing government and wasting taxpayer money on D.C. cronyism and useless stimulus kick-backs for favored donors.

    This is as low an ad as a union man can go. Obviously he had to be paid to make such a blatant nasty ad and it goes to prove that he like so many always blame someone for something and want to make others as miserable as they are by resorting to such low unkind nasty ads as this is.

    Just because Obama thinks he is GOD, he has no right to be so hard on someone that lost his wife through no falt of Romney. I lost my wife with a blood clot in her lung. How many wives has Obama lost by some health problem. Most likely quit a few, by driving them crazy and would rather be dead than to live with him.

    Has anyone actually checked out this ‘Joe Soptic’ to see if he is a real person? That he was actually a worker at a steel plant that Bain Capitol actually had purchased and then shut down.
    Another site has both interviews that this guy is ‘starred in’, which shows him wearing the same shirt. That site suggests that both interviews were shot, at the time of the first one.
    My money says that this guy is paid actor, and is knee deep in the Sh*t that Obama is standing in. Time will tell, it always does.

    They are desperate now. An incumbent President should have a 10-15 pt. lead in the polls. It’s tied and that’s great for the challenger.

    Perhaps this idiot should be sued for telling the lie in the first place. His wife had health insurance and died 7 years after Romney left Baine. The point is that she had her own health insurance and this has nothing to do with this tool losing his job.

    THE MAN IN THE AD IS THE BIGGEST LIAR FOR ALLOWING TO LET THIS GO UNCHALLENGED. His wife had her own insurance and was not on his insurance. Double coverage is not allowed and not paid.
