House Democrat Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi tried to defend Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Monday. What’s funny is that Reid starts a rumor with no evidence about Mitt Romney not paying taxes for ten years and then Pelosi has the audacity to defend him and say, “If he has said somebody told him that, some credible source, then I believe that. That’s up to Gov. Romney to release his returns” and disprove the rumors.
Well once again, Nancy Pelosi demonstrates why she should be in a psychiatric hospital and not in Washington. Nancy, you took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution and the reality is that people are innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around. If your position is true, then there are rumors about, with at minimum circumstantial evidence and a most blatant forgery, concerning the Democrat guy in the White House. I think it’s up to him to disprove the rumors by releasing all those records people are calling for. Otherwise, I guess he’s just guilty, right? Right.
But that wasn’t enough. Pelosi also went in attack mode on the Republicans. Fox News reports,
Pelosi appeared with congressional candidate Lois Frankel and sought to convince seniors that Democrats are the most ardent defenders of Medicare and Social Security. She criticized Romney, who has voiced support for a House Republican plan that would shift Medicare from a fee-for-service program into one where future retirees buy insurance using subsidies.
“That’s just not what Medicare is about,” Pelosi said. “We cannot have our seniors be at the mercy of the health insurance industry. This is a guarantee. We cannot turn it into a gamble.”
She called GOP efforts to trim government misguided, saying “we don’t want any more government than we need,” but that it’s a mistake to think there isn’t a place for federal oversight of things like clean water, health and safe food.
“This is the E. coli club,” she said of conservatives, suggesting over-the-top spending cuts would lead to serious consequences.
The E. coli club? Really Nancy? Democrats always sink to the lowest, basest level in their attacks. Republicans are always the ones they claim will do all sorts of nasty things. Now it’s the Republicans want people to get e.coli! What’s next?
While Pelosi says it’s a mistake not to have federal oversight of clean water, health and safe food, I say that unless those things are crossing state lines that power is restricted to the states. The federal government has no business in dealing with any of it because it has not been given that power by the Constitution.
Finally, in dealing with gun control cries, in light of the Sikh temple shooting, Pelosi basically understands that they cannot champion such a measure right now. She instead tried to appeal to the high ground of “mourning the loss of what happened over the weekend.” She’s not mourning anything. It’s just an opportunity for her to pull a Clinton and say “I feel your pain.”
She was also asked about Republican Allen West, who said that every American should have to get a Glock 9mm for protection and who is up for re-election in the U.S House. When asked, “How sweet would it be for Democrats not to have Congressman West in the next Congress?”
“How sweet would it be for the country?” she replied. Obviously she sees it as sweet because she is among those 80 Communists that Allen West called out.
I’m thinking how sweet it would be to not have Democrats and RINOs in the White House come January of 2013! How sweet would that be for America?!
