Mass. RNC Decertifies 16 Ron Paul Delegates

mass-gop-logoIt looks as if the Republican National Committee and the Mitt Romney campaign have officially taken a stand to oust Ron Paul supporters in Massachusetts. On August 10, the RNC’s ‘Committee on Contest’, chaired by Mike Duncan, released their recommendation to uphold “Romney for President, Inc.” decision to ignore the official caucus results. Instead they manipulated rules to decertify sixteen duly elected delegates. On August 14, the decertified delegates filed a Notice of Intent to Object. They are expecting an impartial hearing prior to Tampa.

It seems that Team Romney and the RNC do not care about unifying this block of voters at all because, at every turn, they have looked to undermine their organization and hard work and to shut their voice out of the convention. Last week it was Maine, this week it’s Massachusetts.

From the official release of the Massachusetts Liberty Caucus,

These sixteen duly elected Liberty delegates wanted to participate in the Republican National Convention to promote three platform issues, specifically Auditing the Federal Reserve Bank, Requiring Congressional Declaration of War for Funding Wars, and Protecting Internet Freedom.

This flagrant violation of the foundation of American Democracy has not killed the spirit of Liberty, but rather strengthened the resolve of activists to continue to reform the Massachusetts Republican Party, by actively supporting the removal of leadership that undermines fair elections, promotes cronyism, and whose policy positions clearly infringe on personal liberty. One example of the lack of liberty in the current state Republican Party Leadership is the recent endorsement by Republican State House Minority Leader Bradley Jones of ‘price controls’ on health care that every small government Republican should be opposed.

The tactical purge of duly elected delegates by the Romney Campaign’s top attorney, Benjamin Ginsberg, sends a clear message that grassroots activists are not welcome to participate in Romney’s Presidential Campaign. The grassroots activists that organized, worked hard, and campaigned to elect those decertified delegates can take a hint, and while committed to defeating President Barack Obama and his policies that promote poverty, not prosperity, moving forward, will pledge their time, talent, and treasure towards supporting local candidates.

These are people that had already purchased plane tickets and made travel arrangements to Tampa as official National delegates to the convention. Now they have been undercut by both the RNC and the Romney campaign.

Are we to be fools for our beliefs like
    Don Quixote (of La Mancha)
or shall we rest silently in our graves…

    Obituary of Mr. Politically Correct

    Here lies “Somebody,”

but no one is sure exactly who he was…not really.

However, all agree he was perfectly “Mr. Politically
    Correct.”

And yet, we are simply not sure who he was…not as a man.

He never talked about his job, his faith, his hopes and dreams…

and certainly never about his political opinions on anything.

He never challenged anyone or any issue…

not his bosses, not his overly loud neighbors,

    not even his taxes…not even

    that “eminent domain” decision
    that took his house.

He apparently never voted, according to the registrar,

never even picked a political party as far as any records show.

He never disagreed with anyone… not about anything,

not at any time as far as anyone can remember.

He never spoke out…not about one single thing.

Apparently, in his entire life he never took a stand

“for” or “against” anything…never rocked the boat…

never even made a few waves.

It was said that in perfect silently he watched,

carefully hiding the tears in his eyes,

as his job was given to someone overseas.

Over time it seemed he just ignored

his individual freedoms gradually being taken away…

Never did he speak out or record a complaint.

Yes, we believe he must have been

    the most “Politically Correct” person

    that ever sucked air.

But we are not sure it can be truly said,

that he actually ever “lived” life…

but rather perhaps he was just “present” in a

silent, “uninvolved” apathetic sort of way.

    Never a hero, or patriot,

and certainly never a leader of any kind.

We would offer a prayer for Somebody,

but we just have no clue about what his

    religious beliefs might have been

because he never talked about his religious

or political values, not to anyone.

    Today it is clear…

”Somebody” now lies in the grave below…

    Now and forever…

    perfectly “politically correct…”

Silent, subservient, and invisible forever more.

    Historical footnote:
    In early 2008, we discovered

that almost an entire generation of our nation had already been

fundamentally changed and transformed by political correctness.

    If the “silent majority”

does not now in a very non-PC way

    reverse our nation’s direction

    America’s epithet will read…

    “Some may remember a
    former great nation…

    but once transformed by apathy

into the world’s most Politically Correct citizens…

their dreams and hopes were silenced without objection”

The president can have a great impact upon our nation as we have seen with the illegal we have occupying the White House now . However , The most important thing we can do at this point , in my opinion , is to make sure we elect true conservatives to serve in both houses and hold their feet to the fire . If we had a Congress with any spine , the usurper would be in jail along with his co-conspirators where they belong as well as the rest of the criminals in this administration . There is more than substantial information for convictions , but you first have to have honest and brave patriots willing to act .

“These sixteen duly elected Liberty delegates wanted to participate in the Republican National Convention to promote three platform issues, specifically Auditing the Federal Reserve Bank, Requiring Congressional Declaration of War for Funding Wars, and Protecting Internet Freedom.”

What is wrong with the platform issues listed above? Nothing that I can see. Let them have their say!

How much is Obama paying you nut jobs ??

Not a fan of Ron Paul nor Romney that much. But Ron Paul and his supporters deserve to be at the convention as certified delegates. They earned it! Oviously, the “Establishment” is alive and well.

  • gerard100

The stupidity of the Republicans will never be surpassed.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PHPOPW6PYGL5JJX4HAOC5WT2CM Constance

God is in control! We may have to suffer because we kill little babies in their mothers’ wombs.

  • theoldguy44

Ron Paul is not the Republican nominee for POTUS, Mitt Romney is. If you don’t support our candidate, then, crawl back to your mom’s basement and fire up the bong. We need to get serious about defeating Obama.

  • Vox populi

Funny article. You say Romney & the GOP have gone out of their way to make trouble for the Paulies? I and most other Conservatives have watched a tiny minority go out of their way to cause difficulties for the Party and Romney. I wish for a more Conservative Candidate but Romney is qualified and has a good level of experience. Fiscally he can save the Country. Ron Paul was never in contention for the Candidacy, because most people view him as a fringe lunatic. Are the Paulies prepared to be such poor losers that they will hand the election to Obama, resulting loss of more Liberties? I hope not. We need to Get Rid Of Obama and we can only do that by uniting behind Romney-Ryan. We don’t want Third Party’s to split the Conservative vote. Look at what Nader & Perot did to thier causes! Anyone but the Marxist Obama and Romney was chosen to be the one to Beat Obama.

  • bj

This is such a one-sided article. Where’s the explanation for WHY they were decertified? Is it because of some shenanigans they pulled during the caucus? It would indeed be stupid to decertify them if it’s just going to be reversed after a hearing.

  • DWeb

Ron Paul is trying to hi-jack the nomination. He looses in the state’s primary elections, the people spoke. But, He set up his people as delegates to circumvent the people so that He could increase His delegate count, so that He could win/steal the nomination. We already have a circumventer in chief. We don;t need another one!

  • Liberty lover

Old news. There is also a lawsuit going on due to the voter fraud.

  • glass

Thanks RNC, I think I will just stay home and let the chicago liar win over the petty bullies. I am a Ron Paul supporter. No money for the RNC now! I may not have much of a voice and I am certainly not rich, but I can choose not to play.

  • singer

Why don’t the Romney (RINO) supporters get ticked off and vote for Ron Paul? Why is it the Ron Paul supporters must compromise? It’s not the Ron Paul supporters voting for the wrong person, it’s the Romney supporters.

    • LeSellers

As a supporter of Ron Paul who is now supporting Romney, I can answer this question, at least for myself.

I invented libertarianism while still in high school in 1963. Or, perhaps better, I discovered it for myself, based on the principles in scripture, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution. I challenge anyone to “out-libertarian” me on any point.

However, as I said in the Republican caucus a few months ago, when I ran (and won) as a delegate to the Colorado state Republican Assembly, “I’ll do anything it takes to get that … man … out of the White House.”

Dr. Paul, senior, is the best representative I have in Congress, although I’m obviously not in his district, and I love him for the (largely unsuccessful, alas!) efforts he’s made to rein in government power and spending. Unfortunately, there is no way he can win the presidency. It’s just not in the cards.

Romney is not my first (or even second) choice. Like it or not, he will be the GOP candidate. He is wrong on a lot of issues that are important to me. But even where he’s wrongest, he’s far closer to my position than Barack O’bama and his tongue-loose sidekick, Li’l Joey Biden.

My grandchildren and great grandchildren cannot afford four more years of O’bamalism. I have learned over decades of fighting losing battles for freedom that one must adapt to the political situation and steer clear of radical puritarianism, because people, in general, don’t care too much. It is better to give them some of what they want while you get some of what you want than it is to fight for all the loaf, and get nothing at all in the end. That’s how people starved in the GULAG.

See who Mitt Romney really is here, on CBS:
      http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7405692n&tag=api

Mr. O’bama, where are the Jobs?

    • Tango

Thank you for the link, but the RNC needs to revisit its policies and tactics. The effort it has engaged in to disenfranchise Ron Paul at every turn in this campaign is repulsive. This party needs to change – or disappear.

    • LeSellers

I’m certainly not arguing against that position. Every view point needs to be addressed, and the Paul delegates have been harmed.

My point is that, pragmatically, we libertarian Republicans must learn to adapt to the changing rules, and, openly where possible, by stealth where necessary, take charge of the levers of power in the GOP. (Heck, I’d say do the same in the Democrat Party, too.) There are probably more people out there who cherish liberty than we realize. Gather them ’round the Title of Liberty: “In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children.”

Mr. O’bama, where are the Jobs?

  • emjay98

I feel as if this is the perfect way to elect Obama again! Here we have Republicans ignoring the wishes of a segment of the electorate. If they persist in this de-certification of these Paul delegates, they will lose a lot of support from those of us who already will have to hold our noses in order to vote for Romney. (I still think he is better than Obama.) You talk about gaffes! This is the worst faux pas they could have made.

    • Eagle

Holding your nose in order to vote for Romney is surely more desirable than having to cover your “A$$” if Obama is reelected. Have you even investigated the “Real” news on what is going on in this country now???
It’s time that you get on the internet, and turn off the MSM.

    • emjay98

Exactly what I meant. I didn’t particularly want Romney, and I sure don’t want Obama again. I thought the most qualified of the Republicans was Newt Gingrich. But somehow he was not the choice of the voters. I guess I really didn’t convey my message very well. We are in agreement, and I am going to tell you that I purposely avoid the MSM with a passion! I think that the Republicans have hurt themselves by trying to de-certify the Paul delegates. You are preaching to the choir!

    • CA

I did not like decertifcation of Ron Paul’ delegate at all !He is a good man ; deserves better. As you “holding your noseto vote…” good remark.

    • antiglobalist

Eagle, I will get you up to speed. MSM = LSP (lamestreampropaganda)

  • DrBillLemoine

While there’s no place else for fringe delegates to go but Republican, it’s one more sign of wide divisions in right wing politics that portend a Democratic sweep in November. Ignore the polls. Democratic voter registration in all, but especially battleground, states will prevail despite infamous right wing voter suppression laws, even now as we breathe, being rolled back. Once such registrations get going and laws are rejected for Voter Rights Act and equal protections provisions of the constitution severely rebuffed progressives and moderates will prevail at the polls. It’s only right for democratic institutions and free people.

Ron Paul is the Answer to Saving America…NOT Obamney…the GOP and Democrats have lost the confidence of the people…Now over 300,000 say they will vote for Ron Paul according to forums…and the RNC convention will be an exciting time as we stop Flip Flop Mitt….who is nothing more than another status quo politician….Ron Paul Freedom Movement is Winning at local and state elections and we will soon oust the corruption in our government…and That will be a Day that America Returns Back to a Freedom Nation! • Showdown

If we don’t intend to be bullied by Obama, the RNC shouldn’t be bullying us either. It appears that tactics like this are intended to get a backlash from Republicans who do not approve of the status quo, thereby ensuring Romney’s loss. The POWER ELITE Republicans don’t want to appear as though they are backing the extremism that Obama has engaged in, so ensuring that Romney loses keeps the spotlight off of their evil intent. But the fact remains they have backed Obama too many times to deny their Global intentions. If you have been watching elections very long, you can tell when an election is being “thrown”. Principled people will not put up with these tactics, tuck their tails and acquiesce. We simply must draw the line sometime and the only time we have is now. The party that bullies it’s members will be without them.

  • porterv

I had every intention of voting Romney/Ryan in November. But the republicans are always pulling this kind of crap. The Mass RNC has convinced my family to vote 3rd party, probably libertarian, this November.

  • GABullDog067

what a joke this party and this nation have become. This is freedom?

  • Wes Pate

Seems like at the core not a lot of different between the Republocrats! I would expect this out of the Democrat primaries and such but not the so-called Republicans. Looks like when they are squeezed they are all the same!
