Joe Biden On Mortgages: “Won’t Cost a Penny” If GOP Would “Get Out of the Way”

joe_bidenWell Joe Biden was turned loose this week after the Obama campaign sent him to the doghouse over the weekend and speaking from Renaissance High School in Detroit, Michigan, he demanded that the Republicans “get out of the way” of the Obama administration and it’s policies on mortgages.

The Vice-President said that Democrats in Washington could help 12 million additional families refinance mortgages if they were allowed to and it “won’t cost the government a penny.”

“We helped millions of families modify their mortgages so they can stay in their homes and we helped more than a million refinance their homes saving $3,000 bucks a year, but guess what?” Biden asked.

“We can do it for another 12 million if the Republicans would just get out of the way, just get out of the way. Right? Just get out of the way and it won’t cost the government a penny.”

The problem is that many people are still upside down in their mortgages and many have lost their homes while the Obama team did a victory dance in the end zone in which they basically helped no one. Bankers got the money, but it was homeowners that got the shaft.

While Obama promised that things would change if the Congress would just follow his plan, the man does not understand economics. He said “If you’ve got a $250,000 mortgage at six percent interest rates, but the value of your home has fallen below $200,000, right now you can’t refinance. You’re ineligible. But that’s going to change. If you meet certain requirements, you will have the chance to refinance at lower rates, which could save you hundreds of dollars a month, and thousands of dollars a year on mortgage payments.”

He does not understand the impact of what he has done that has brought things to the point where people have lost their jobs and are losing their homes. What good does it do to refinance your home if you are out of a job? And why are people out of a job? Obama threw nearly a trillion dollars of stimulus money at companies that have gone belly up. No significant amount of jobs have been produced and unemployment is far greater than the 8.3% reported.

The issue of mortgages will not be fixed with a refinance. Economic policy must be changed and then businesses will be started and allowed to be prosperous again.

And Biden in completely wrong when it comes to costs. Everything the government does costs and usually it costs well beyond what they project it to.

The stimulus money was a way to thank donors for their contributions to his campaign. Plain and simple!

I’m from the government and I’m here to help!

There’s nothing like an expensive government program to protect you from the after-effects of all those expensive government programs, is there Joe?

I suspect that my once-intelligent brother and his wife voted for Obama, and will again, because a program let them buy down the $300,000 mortgage on an enormous house that three people live in. Enormous as in, two separate stairways going to the second floor. Skylight in the master bath. I won’t go on.

Obama bought their votes with a bought-down mortgage and I am ashamed that my brother fell for it.

Joe Biden is an idiot and so are all of the people who will vote for Obama. They are the people that do not have a clue. Obama is a fraud and a fake and he wants to turn this Country into sharing prosperity. This happens when moe than half of the people work & pay taxes and the rest of the population lives off the Government & from the people who do work and pay for them to live off the Government. People need to wise up and get this “used car salesman” out of “our” White House. If not we are doomed.

My wife and I can’t re-finance because our home was so de-valued over the past 4 years that we’d have to pay THOUSANDS to make up the difference between what we paid and what it assesses at today,
I’m sure many of you are in the same situation. YEESH! This guy is a major idiot.
I’m just happy he’s a democrap. I’d take Todd Akin or this fool any day.

He was just joking…right? After all, isn’t he the joker in chief…? Come on bigmouth, prove that one…helped millions of families…? Didn’t cost the government anything…? Sure cost us taxpayers a lot…so that the “too big to fail” friends club could open up brand new branches on every corner of town–with the taxpayer money that was supposed to help save their jobs and houses… And who’s gonna bail that out when it fails…? You’re kidding us, right? You didn’t help anyone–except yourself and your cronies to something that you were not entitled to…while sucking the rest of us dry…

Joe, would the Democrat stance on mortgages help my still very underwater mortgage? Would it help the value of my home go up from the disastrous situation that the Democrats caused?? Could you stop blaming the Republicans, for once, and take some responsibility for the catastrophic position the Democrat policy that everyone “deserves” to own a home got me into???? I am an angry American on this subject!!!!!

I am just afraid that the Obama mortgage policies will not be good Americans but will be good for politicians.

The Majority of the 4 million jobs that Barrack Obama is claiming are jobs that have never been lost but Obama changed the description or name of the job to make it a Green job. He did it by claiming a janitor as a green job or a Garbage Collectors job a Green job and many other jobs have now been reclassified and being called a new job creation by the Obama administration. These jobs were never lost and the same people are working them and has been employed for 10 or 15 years now but the Obama administration is calling them new jobs by jest calling them a Green Job.

We Americans need to have an ADULT conversation about the pitiful state of our country! We need to come together in AMERICAN unity, recognizing the bare fact that mutual sacrifice is the solution to our long term problem. We have ridden the government hand out train for far too long. The rich, middle-class, the poor, the elderly……everyone…..will need to participate in either paying more or taking less in order that the USA may put it’s house in order once again. The painful truth must be faced else we all suffer the consequences for several generations…..where the blame belongs is no longer important.

    • Phillip_in_TX

No problem. We need to get rid of the “Progressives” both Republican & Democrat, the liberals, the communists, and anyone else who does not want the country to prosper. Then, we will be able to have an Adult conversation.

It won’t cost the government a penny, bull. Just like Obama care will reduce the cost of healthcare. If the government doesn’t pay up front, then the finance companies lose profits and pay less in taxes. The only way the government can reduce their cost is to reduce their size. Pure and simple. I may be a simpleton from Alabama, but I know that there is no such thing as a free lunch. The question is who’s going to pay, and how much.

  • machiavelli

Yep………more of the same failed policies that got us into this mess. Do they actually think that anyone (besides the useful idiots) buy this garbage? If you believe this then you have obviously not been paying attention for the last several years…….you might as well been living on the moon.

Didn’t they say something like that about obamacare? Just more democrats “BS!”

  • Doc

Anytime the government says it won’t cost a penny, that is the time to hide your wallet.

    • Phillip_in_TX

Yea, it normally costs millions to billions!
