Is Censorship of Comments In Social Media Communism?

censored-xxDoes America even know what its political terms mean anymore? We use terms like liberal, conservative, Marxist, socialist and communist. Sadly, with some of the email I get regarding stories and such, I’m convinced that many people do not in fact understand what they mean when they use these terms.

I’ll give you a for instance. I received an email just yesterday from a reader on this site:

You are one pathetic disgrace for a human being. You write b******t articles with zero credibility and incorrect information to which people respond with valid points and information and you delete them?

That is blatant censorship and that makes you a communist.

First, let me say, I don’t profess to be a world class writer. I never have. Some of you may even agree with the writer when it comes to my writing. That’s fine. I accept that. I try and provide information to the best of my ability. I am human and can err. Of that, there is no doubt. The writer of the email neither cited a particular article, nor provided his name.

However, the writer clearly demonstrates what I’m talking about. He claims that I’m a communist because of censorship. OK let’s take this one step at a time, so that we are clear. He also demonstrates why some comments get deleted. (I censored what some would consider to be an offensive word. Our system would have removed such a comment.)

Communism can refer to a couple of things. In the first place what took place at the Jamestown colony could be referred to as communism. Before you get your dander up at that, hear me out. The people gathered there and gave consent that they would all work together to build the colony and they would all share in what they worked for. Notice however, that they volunteered to do this. They were not forced to. If someone didn’t pull their weight because they wanted to live off the welfare of others, they were sent packing to fend for themselves.

Eventually the plan was to last for such a time as was necessary to get the colony up and running. Once that took place, every person could pursue their own interests and in return, it would provide for their own livelihood and would also provide services for the other people who would be doing the same.

We have seen this in our own day. We often refer to “communes.” This is what these people choose to do. They volunteer to live among a people and contribute to the whole to sustain themselves.

However, when government seeks to implement this as policy, it always and inevitably turns to violence and dictatorship. Just read George Orwell’s Animal Farm for a lesson in what it ends up becoming.

When government takes for itself this philosophy and imposes it upon the people without their consent, it is Communism and it is wrong. In this instance it is completely mandatory by the government and not voluntary. People naturally rebel against it for it violates the natural property rights of people. In essence it is a violation of the eighth commandment, “Thou shalt not steal.”

The dictionary defines Communism in this manner as “a system of social organization in which all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state dominated by a single and self-perpetuating political party. ”

Now, take our emailer. He claims that the site is Communist for censoring his comments. I’ll tell you that we use the Disqus system for censoring comments. Usually comments are censored due to a couple of things: multiple hyperlinks or foul language. When we run across threats of violence or people report specifics of that, we remove the comment. That’s pretty simple.

Now what the emailer assumes is that his First Amendment has been violated. It hasn’t. This site is considered “private property.” As such, it is under the control of the owner, just like any other property. For instance, if the emailer had walked onto the property that I own and sought to enter my house with a gun demanding that he has a right to free speech on my property, it would be the last words he spoke. The reason for that would be the fact that it is my property and he issued a threat by bringing his gun onto my property.

Now in both situations the person has a right to freedom of speech. However there are also consequences to that speech. This site is not the federal government. Again, it’s private property. One cannot come on private property and do whatever they like, without consequences.

Differences of ideas, along with political and social perspective are welcome here. However, foul language, threats of violence and multiple links outside the site are not. That is pretty simple. But the emailer has a flawed view: That anyone who would dare remove a comment is somehow a Communist. This person does not understand “property rights.” In other words he thinks his rights supersede someone else’s rights.

My friends, censorship on a private website or a Facebook page or any private property is not Communism. Seeking to usurp private property rights is. Let’s be careful in our use of terms that we use them correctly.

As an end note, for the most part, I rarely delete items as Disqus usually handles things well. If you find something with obscene language in a comment section or threats of violence you can report that by clicking on the drop down menu beside the comment:) Most people know how to conduct themselves as adults and for that I’m thankful. Others have to learn the hard way.

Along the lines of censorship, there are frequently articles and posts on conservative websites that are not flattering to the current regime that you cannot access on certain ISP’s. (I’m on comcast, hint hint.) If the title is obviously anti obama, the link to it fails. This is suspicious to me and I am not generally susceptible to conspiracy baloney. When the link “fails” explorer or even chrome from google posts several “errors” and the link and the browser are unrecoverable. Yet the browser works fine when rebooted and other articles and posts operate normally. Do others see this sort of problem?

    • http://twitter.com/DonaldRamsey51 Donald Ramsey

Yes, I’m seeing it happen with increasing frequency these days. These companies need to be sued, because strictly speaking, they are not strictly “private” enterprises, but search engines, ot properties per se, and they are practicing censorship of conservative and Christian viewpoints. We need to get together and SUE THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS out of them.

    • 44rd11

yep – that’s what we need to do – make more lawyers rich. Such frivolous lawsuits – one of the root causes of ALL of our problems in the US of A.

    • nmgene

There are many sites and browsers that sensor everything. My Hotmail constantly puts messages I have on my contact, Ok list in the junk file or says it looks suspicious to them. But everyone knows Bill Gates is a leftie crook!!!!!

    • 44rd11

the word is censor not sensor. Merde alor!

    • 44rd11

Why is Bill Gates a crook – most likely YOU wouldn’t be HERE if it weren’t for Bill Gates or someone like him. and now you object to his capitalism? I object to his politics – but he has the money and we don’t.

    • http://www.facebook.com/william.a.roderick William A. Roderick II

Bill Gates is certainly a leftie , as to being a crook I am unsure of the evidence. But he does supply many jobs to people.

    • 44rd11

I’m on comcast – and this site is definitely ANTI-Obama – I have no trouble.

  • tdeguisne

    Very well said. Thanks.

  • Casmige

Not “Communism”……it’s nothing more nor anything less than fascism actually.

Communism is merely a branch-ism of Fascism…..just as “Democracy” (AKA: “Mob-Rule” ) is ALSO a branch of the same tree: “Fascism”.

  • JACK

When someone thinks his rights supersede someone else’s, that statement is the definition of why we have a breakdown in our society!! Thank you Mr. Brown for that brilliant point.

  • Harry Cauley

Thanks Bill. I think this is well written and easy to understand. Thank you for the platform to exspress my sentiments on issues whatever they may be.

I don’t like Disqus as it has done some things to my email.

such as???? If you’ve had DISQUS issues, please share with us (with specificity), so we can be on the lookout. That is only common internet courtesy. If I knew a site was questionable, I’d share that information.

same here. must be disqus and the commie pinko gang work hand in hand. ie, disqus is the squealing snitch to their muslim communist masters.

  • Lois MacLaren

I have noticed that, on some web pages, some commentators will complain that their post has been deleted and/or censored when the facts are that there have been so many comments in connection with a specific article that the complainant’s post has actually been moved on to a third or fourth page. So the post really was not deleted or censored in any way – it was just buried because so many people felt inspired to comment about the article.

  • kseagle

Well there has to be a degree of censorship or you will have a bunch of foul mouthed uneducated idiots cussing every word you print. vugarity is a sign of undereduation. People do not have a civil vocabulary so they cuss you out in an effort to make themselves look macho. Never argue with a fool- it is hard to tell who is who.

    • 44rd11

Vulgarity in speech – just a sign of the times.

  • Mary

I found it interesting that just beneath your well written article is a video from “Huffpo” who do practice censorship and do so blatantly. I have never once used a foul word, threatened violence of any kind, degraded anyone but certainly DO use wit and irony in the voice I use to express my opinions there and I was recently “banned” from the use of their comments section. Moderators freely offer pro left wing commentary which I’ve ceaselessly pointed out is anything BUT “moderating” and I guess they just can’t handle it. So, thanks for being here. I doubt we would read such an article over there.

    • USAForever48

Mary, periodically, Huff N Puff (as I call them) clean house of certain conservatives and remove them (banning). So far, they haven’t got me, but I’m waiting. A friend has been banned four times just this year (2012) so far. Another friend has had many, many fans removed. Huff N Puff is a joke. Best place is right here with folks who actually have a brain and know how to use it!!!

I’ve been banned twice from a website called
motherjones.com which is based out of San
Francisco & is heavily financed by George Soros.

Another website that banned me was called
cnsnews.com. This website had a number of
homosexuals that kept promoting their sin
& I kept posting God’s Word on said subject.
I was kicked off & the homosexuals were allowed
      to stay.

Another website that kicked me off was
called Vision to America. Gary DeMar is
      the Founder, President & Editor-in-Chief.
Gary DeMar’s articles can be found on
numerous websites (I have a complete
list). Gary DeMar works closely with
      Gary North. Both are Reconstructionists/Dominionists.
Both embrace & promote what the Vatican teaches.
When I started pointing out what he was involved in
he kicked me off his website. If you read an article
by Gary DeMar or Gary North I would urge extreme
      caution.

      Hi Lady Law,
I will be here as long as this website allows

When you read anything written by any one human being – be cautious. most times it’s their own personal opinion – often gathered from what they heard someone else tells them rather than their own personal research. It’s like most “Christian” sects in the US of A – none of them really believe the Bible – only the parts they want to believe in. Prime example – 1 Timothy 3. read it and see.

    • http://www.facebook.com/william.a.roderick William A. Roderick II

Specifically which part of 1 Timothy 3 ?

    • GRBW

Yeah, I couldn’t figure out the concern with that passage either. Maybe the reference to “man” concerned the writer (rather than if the passage had said “person” and thereby arguably included women).

So then Obama definitely shouldn’t be a leader of our country or anything else. He lies to get what he wants. He is a malicious defamer. And he is dishonest in his financial affairs. He is a racist, as has been proven by his attendance for 20 years in a church that hates all whites. He hates America as it was constituted by our founding fathers.

He taught him on his own time, not in church!!!!! Michelle has never gone to church in her life!!!!! They got married in church because she wanted a big wedding!!!!!!!!! Read “The Amateur” !!!!!!

    • USAForever48

Thank you for the heads up, Raymond. I value your input and just unsubscribed from cnsnews.com. Never visited motherjones.com, so I don’t hae to worry about that one. Gary DeMar and Gary North. I wrote their names down and will stay away from them, too.
Many kind thanks for your expertise. I trust your opinion more than most. Thank you, sir, for all you’ve done for us and all you continue to do for us. Semper fi.

No offense, Ray, but maybe it’s your jokes they don’t like – particularly the ones about Obama. Frankly I find them funny and refreshing. Keep them coming.

    • Middlemary

They censor most of my posts. I do not use foul language. It seems they don’t like any posts that criticize O.

    • Independentrd

There are many, may sites, or rather blogs for commenting on various subjects that appear at first glance to be what they say, but in the end are only pulpits for those of specific beliefs. Posters who say things out-of-line with their philosophies usually find their posts moderated and not show up, or find themselves banned. So we find in the end they are as I said, pulpits for those who have the same views as the owners.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/E4S3WH7CYJHF2563DLTVSOEWLM Chickadee 1

That doesn”t sound quite fair to me, because when you own a business and put out your sign that you are seeking business, you have to accept any person that comes thru your front door—–i.e., the photographer that refused to film a gay engagement, was sued by the lesbian and won!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is the way in this world today!!!!!!!! And same-sex marriage or same sex unions was not even legal in that state!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Independentrd

It’s considered a “freedom of speech” issue, not a business issue. With our PC government you no longer have the right to refuse service to anyone unless anyone is white, middle class American.

    • Raymond
    • Independentrd

Ahhh..The way of the world today! The Politically correct way. The unintended consequences of the PC way.

I know a man who works long hours standing on a concrete floor. He had a heart attack at a rather young age due to working conditions at a previous job. He’s a skilled mechanic, but he has no insurance his health is not good, he makes well less than poverty level, They raised his home insurance by over 260% in one shot last year. In the Atlanta area he can’t get in to see a doctor for less than $120 “up front” and being a white male he does not qualify for any kind of assistance.

Up here the same medical costs are roughly half of what they charge down there and for the poor without insurance and elderly they charge considerably less than that. which would leave him much more to live on.

    • canucksam

Sometimes I wonder why they even bother to have a comment section. Like Obama and the Demcruds – it’s my way or the highway, i.e. criticize and bash the right but lay off the left.

    • Pete

Is there anything truly amusing or funny about Obuma?

On SATURDAY…. I “LIKED” this page on FACEBOOK called REAL CONSERVATIVES/REAL CHRISTIANS/REAL REPUBLICANS….. and because the person who started does not want like Mitt Romney, and said that he was not much different than Obama and such…. Well, I wrote,…. SO WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSE TO DO….STAY HOME AND NOT VOTE and I wrote about why we need to come together and support Mitt Romney, even though he might not be the TOP choice that many wanted….. but we sure can’t let Obama back in there….Well, he impugned that I was NOT a real Christian for saying that I would vote for Romney, who is a mormon. I am not VOTING for that. I am voting to get OBAMA out of the white house before he destroys our country forever…. Anyway, this person who started the page said that I didn’t belong there and I could either leave or they would ban me, like I had committed the unpardonable sin…. Nothing I said was rude or abusive. He or she just did not want to tolerate anyone daring to have an opinion other than THEIR own…. SUCH TOLERANCE….. So refreshing, don’t you think???? And here I thought it was just the Kool-Aid Left who are threatened by the idea of FREE SPEECH other than their own. Guess I was wrong. I was totally floored by this and actually upset inside…even as I was thinking, WHATEVER!

    • ezekiel22

I have not visited that site yet but I do get sick and tired of the whack jobs that have declared themselves to be the arbiters of who is and who is not a real Christian, real American, real Conservative.
To me they are as bad if not worse than Obama and his liberal friends. They make all conservatives look like nuts and so will persuade people to vote democrat so as not to encourage the “real” crowd. Te end result is that the country loses.

    • siquijorisland

      you said that very well

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000381452745 Robert Wheatley

Real Christians don’t vote for communists who are, by their very nature, atheists. Obama has written that he is a Marxist communist.

    • http://FrontPorchPolitics.com/ Tim Brown

And they shouldn’t vote for polytheists who have liberal record as governor like Romney does.

    • Jay

Tim, I’m a bit disheartened at your reply to Robert. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I can assure, you would far, far, far better off having Mormons on your side than a communist of any flavor. Mormons believe the Constitution was divinely inspired. You will find no one–regardless of his or her faith–that supports and sustains the Constitution, as written, more than Mormons do.

However, I agree that Romney has his warts, politically speaking. While I would not vote for him in most case, if it’s between him and Obama, then there is no question who I’d vote for.

Also, and perhaps more importantly, I hope you and the others here, at the FREEDOM OUTPOST, would afford us (Mormons) the same consideration that you afford all Americans.

    • June9245

If You want the same consideration afforded all Americans you must be a racist after all what else could it be.

    • Jay

Forgive me, June, I don’t understand your comment.

    • Palrak

      Neither do I!

    • ddenney1

???????? PLease read your comment BEFORE you post!

    • Pete

This is another evidence of the pathetic intellectual emptiness of far too many Americans. I know this is radical to the extreme, but not everything is based on race. In fact, for most thinking people, race never enters the equation.
I really hope you, and millions of others like you, will wake up to that reality.
Oh yes, I am not black, brown, red, or yellow. I am white, have blue eyes, and was born in this country – and I am a “true” Christian. Do you hate me too?

Mormon Myths Exposed by Their Own Literature

Myth #1: Reading the Book of Mormon will tell you all about Mormon doctrine.
The Book of Mormon fails to teach the unique doctrine Latter-day Saints feel is necessary to believe and practice in order to become gods.

Myth #2: The book of Mormon has been proven by archaeology.
To date, nothing has been found to verify Book of Mormon sites. In fact, many within the Mormon Church are beginning to abandon the idea that the Book of Mormon is a book of verifiable history. No credible archaeologist outside of the Mormon Church considers the book to have any New World archaeological value.

Myth #3: Brigham Young never taught Adam was God.
Not only did Brigham Young teach that Adam was Michael the Archangel, the Ancient of Days, he also taught that Adam was “our Father and our God, and the only God with whom we have to do.”

He finished this message by saying, “Now, let all who may hear these doctrines, pause before they make light of them, or treat them with indifference, for they will prove their salvation or damnation.” (Journal of Discourses 1:50,51). Notice Young called this teaching a “doctrine,” not a “theory” as most Mormons like to refer to it today.

Myth #4: All of Joseph Smith’s prophecies came to pass.
If that was true, Jesus would have returned in 1891 (Documentary History of the Church (DHC) 2:182), the Civil War would have poured out upon all nations (Doctrines & Covenants1:87:1-3); the wicked of Smith’s generation would have been swept from off the face of the land (DHC 1:315); and a temple would have been built in Independence, Missouri by the generation living in 1832 (D&C 84:4,5).

Myth #5: Joseph Smith died as a “lamb led to the slaughter.”
The fact is, Joseph Smith died in a gun battle using a pistol that was smuggled to him while incarcerated at Carthage jail. According to the DHC, Joseph Smith pulled this six-shooter from his pocket and “snapped the pistol six successive times; only three of the barrels, however, were discharged. I afterwards understood that two or three were wounded by these discharges, two of whom, I am informed, died” (John Taylor, Volume 7, pp. 102-103).

Myth #6: Polygamy was necessary in early Utah because there were more women than men.
The fact is there were more men than women in early Utah when polygamy was being practiced. Mormon Apostle John Widtsoe wrote on pages 390-91 of his book entitled Evidences and Reconciliations: “The most common of these conjectures is that the Church, through plural marriage, sought to provide husbands for its large surplus of female members. The applied assumption in this theory, that there have been more females than male members in the Church, is not supported by existing evidence. On the contrary, there seem always to have been more males than females in the Church… The theory that plural marriage was a consequence of a surplus of female church members fails from lack of evidence.”

    • Jay

Tell me, Raymond, how long have you been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

    • Pete

I am not a Mormon. I am not a Roman-Catholic. I am not a Muslim. But these are the only options available. I am voting for Romney, not because of his religious affiliation (which is, like it or not, still his Constitutional right), but because of his proven competence. We need a President who has proven his ability to fill the positions of CEO/COO/CFO – not a rank amatuer who has never successfully run any business, even a sidewalk lemonade stand, a man who is probably not a citizen of this country, a man who loves socialism and communism but hates the free-enterprise system, a man who bows to the King of Saudi Arabia, as all faithful Muslims do, and a man who is so corrupt that former Chicago Mayor Daley couldn’t stay around him. This election has nothing to do with religion. It has everything to do with maintaining the United States of America.

    • June9245

      Anybody but The Obummer!

    • Raymond

      Hi Tim,
You’re right about Romney & his voting record.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Pamela-Dunn/100000108092512 Pamela Dunn

      Tim;
I am completely ashamed of you and your Judgemental attitude toward Romney (Judge NOT lest Ye be Judged says the Bible). Second of all you are so far off base its not even funny. A Mormon is NOT a “polytheist”; they Do honor and worship Jesus Christ and ONE GOD. Do get an education.
Romney os a MODERATE, NOT a “liberal” ; DO try to learn the difference. I would have liked a MUCH MORE conservative candidate, BUT Romney is 10,000% better than OBAMA and if you don’t Vote for Him, then you are guilty of helping to re-elect the marxist Obama who IS a Muslim.
Think about it and publish an apology.

    • Raymond

Tim Brown told the truth about Mr. Romney.

    • Pete

If we can’t vote for Obama because of his communism, and we can’t vote for Romney because of his mormonism, just who can we vote for? I, for one, will not allow uninformed, Scripturally ignorant, hate-filled, judgmental bigots to disenfranchise me. I am going to vote – for Romney. And, I am neither Muslim nor Mormon. I am a born-again, Bible-believing, REAL Christian who loves the United States and wants to see religious liberty continue among our freedoms. In my opinion, those who vote for Obama, or refuse to vote at all, are sacrificing the sovereignty of this great nation on the altar of bigotry and hatred.

    • Pete

“Real Christians”? According to whose standard? Certainly not the standard of God’s Word.

    • Pete

You are correct. That is one reason the churches of America are so totally irrelevant in our society today. Pastor (retired) Pete

    • http://FrontPorchPolitics.com/ Tim Brown

I get that stuff too Kathleen. It’s a shame people can’t be a little more intelligent than to throw that stuff out there. They are like Israel in the OT and they want a king over them, even a polytheist like Romney. It is a sad state when the Church votes out of fear for a man who bears a false gospel and a false Jesus and then they try and justify it by claiming he isn’t Obama. Yet, not only is his belief system majorly flawed an endangers the souls of men, but his politics are completely left. Anyone who would doubt his record only needs to go to MassResistancedotorg to see what Romney does, not what he says.

    • Jay

Tim, now my being “disheartened” has turned to dismay. It is abundantly clear that you have neither compassion nor regard for American citizens who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

For those of us who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we are so because the Holy Ghost has born an undeniable witness to us of the truthfulness of it. We have tested the word. We have tasted the fruits and found them to be good and desirable. We have taken God at His word when He said, “Prove me now herewith,” and found Him to be true and He has opened the windows of heaven and poured out a blessing upon us (Malachi 3:10). As a result of this, we are willing commit ourselves to worshipping God the Eternal Father, to obeying the teachings of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and to following the promptings of the Holy Ghost. We are committed to being morally clean; we refrain from using obscene and profane language; we strive to keeping the Sabbath day holy; we pledge to being honest in all our dealings with our fellow man; we abstain from using illegal drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. We covenant to give of our own time, talents, and income in the service of others and to the building up of God’s kingdom on earth. When we marry, we do so with a covenant to God to remain true and faithful to our spouse, not only for time, but also for eternity. As parents we do our best to rear children who not only honor their parents, but also honor their God and their Redeemer. We teach them to repent of their sins and turn to Christ for salvation. We encourage them to contribute to their community and to honor and obey the laws of the land. We covenant to be honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men. We seek after things that are virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy.

So with the evidence of all these good fruits, having chosen to freely take upon us these principles and live the teachings of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and to follow in his footsteps to the best of our ability, only to encounter contention, hatred, and persecution from our nonmember families, friends, and strangers, we can’t help asking, “What’s wrong with Mormons?”

    • http://www.facebook.com/Rtist4u Meri Coury

All I can say is, if you are truly seeking God’s will for your life and soul, why do you need a second “holy” book? God tells you all you need to live a fruitful and happy life.

It seems to me that you pretty much described almost everything God would have us do, as Christians. However, you failed to mention two very important aspects:

      1. In order to be a Christian and to live a life that is pleasing to God, you must accept Christ as God and turn away from sin. That would “Take up your Cross and Follow [me] Him. (That would be repenting and asking Christ into your heart–or born again.)

      2. The Bible specifically states that Jesus Christ, the SON is also God, as is the Holy Spirit… But Mormons do not believe in the Trinity. So, you are basically saying that God is lying, which is blasphemous. How can you call yourself a Christian if these two very BASIC principals are ignored?

      Please think on that.

    • Pete

The subject is our nation, and the election of our next leaders. We are not choosing a pastor. If you love the United States, where, at least for now, we have the freedom to express our opinions in a public format like this, you cannot consider voting for Obuma. You also must not fail to vote. If you fail to vote, Obuma will win in a landslide. You see, his cronies understand this is not a referendum on religion, but an election which may well, if Obuma wins, turn the USA into the USSR (United States Socialist Republic). The welfare millions and the unions will vote – for Obuma. If you do not want or like a free nation, do not vote for Romney. But if you do love America and the freedoms we enjoy, you must vote – for Romney.

    • Jay

Meri, I appreciate your comment because it strikes me as being genuine. For that reason, I will attempt to answer your comments, as to whether or not you will accept them, that rests entirely with you.

Referring to Ezekiel 37:18, God said that at some future time the people would ask, referring to His words, “What do you mean by these things?” Then, He would cause the stick (record) of one (Judah) to be combined with the stick (record) of the other (Joseph) “and make them one stick . . . in my hand.” What would be God’s purpose in such a thing as combining two books into one? The Lord declared that by the “mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established” (Matthew 18:16; 2 Corinthians 13:1). The Book of Mormon is “Another Testament of Jesus Christ.” It establishes the truth and divinity of the Bible. It testifies of Jesus Christ as the Redeemer of mankind.

      1. Regarding your comment, “you must accept Christ as God and turn away from sin,” I clearly said above, “we are willing commit ourselves to worshipping God the Eternal Father, to obeying the teachings of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and to following the promptings of the Holy Ghost.” In order to do so effectively, one would have to turn away from sin. Man cannot serve two masters
(Matthew 6;24)! Indeed, Meri, the Book of Mormon teaches is our Savior and Redeemer: “There is none other name given under heaven save it be this Jesus Christ, of which I have spoken, whereby man can be saved’ (2 Nephi 25:20).

      2. Yes, Jesus Christ is indeed God and Book of Mormon makes this abundantly clear: “For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and I work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith” (2 Nephi 27:23). The title page of the Book of Mormon declares that the Book was written “also to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that JESUS is the CHRIST, the ETERNAL GOD, manifesting himself unto all nations.”

Regarding the Trinity: No one said God is lying. To say that we declare such is dishonesty in and of itself. However, I do not think you meant it as such.

When and where did the idea of three-in-one come into being as it pertains to the “mystery of the trinity”? Actually, and 3rd century history bears this out, there was a conflict between the speculative Greek philosophy and the literal understanding of the earliest Christians that produced contentions, which were threatening to widen the political divisions in the rapidly fragmenting Roman Empire. In an effort to mend this widening rift, Emperor Constantine convened the first church-wide council in AD 325 in an attempt to end the various disagreements and arguments regarding the Godhead, which were prevalent at the time. So under the direction of temporal politics, the nature of God was established by apostate churchmen, philosophers, and ecclesiastical leaders. The document that contained their compromise came to be known as the Nicene Creed. Some years later, another council was held in these same regards and they followed up with the Athanasian Creed, which furthered the misconception of “the Trinity.” Nowhere in the Bible can any reference be found on “the Trinity.”

Meri, if you would care to discuss further why we believe what we do, feel free to contact me at jaygladwellatoutlookdotcom.

Allow me to close with a quote from Napoleon Hill, motivational speaker and author of the bestselling book Think and Grow Rich. He acknowledged, “No accurate thinker will judge another person by that which the other person’s enemies say about him.”

I think you missed something. Obuma was never “vetted.” The truth about his bacckground was never brought to light. Those, other than welfare recipients, illegal aliens, the dead, the racist haters, and the corrupt political machines, who did vote enmasse for Obuma, never thought.

    • JimRed

Theology aside, Mormons subscribe to the same right vs. wrong as most Christians. I have not heard of Romney or his campaigners trying to proselytize for Mormonism. Unless someone electable steps up as a genuine conservative Republican candidate at the convention, staying home or voting third party simply guarantees four more years of Obama and an end to the Republic.
What Romney DID was as governor of a leftist state, the will of the people. He is likely to do the will of the people as president of this center-right nation as well. We must hold his feet to the fire, and even more important, we need conservatives in congress.

    • http://www.facebook.com/Rtist4u Meri Coury

No one will approach Romney on the subject of being Mormon as Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, is also Mormon. That would be opening a can of worms that Obama doesn’t want opened, just yet. After all, Reid has been in bed with Obama from the start.

    • Pete

Ssssh! The leftists who are so successfully arousing the conservative religious bigots don’t want people to know that Reid and several other powerful members of Congress are Mormon. They want Christians to rise in repulsion.

    • Pete

Tim! Romney did “the will of the people”?!?! What a concept for an elected official!

    • Raymond

      Hey tim,
You aren’t throwing the stones, BUT you are as guilty standing there hold their coats.
If you DON’T vote for Romney, then you have effectively voted FOR the greater evil of Obama. Get real. Your wishy washy nonsense doesn’t cut it. Shame on you.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_PKMLAM7GHCGHIGNXECMO7YYMUI nancy

Well ; then vote for the ; ” Communist ” ; and prove that you are an ; ‘ idiot ‘.

    • axmickl

Kathleen, you have met the enemy and it is clearly not a brain trust. These overzealous right wingers are just as dangerous as the left extremists. It was fools like this that voted for ross Perot some years ago and subsequently gave us Bill Clinton and the witch of the west hillary. These nut cases will cut off their noses just to spite their faces. The problem with that is the harm they do to the rest of us. They will argue with you till the cows come home that they are doing the right thing because God told them Mormons are evil or some such nonsense. Never occurs to these fools that Obama is the evil one.

    • Pete

As long as people are arguing about Romney’s religion, Obama is sitting back in his chair, roaring with laughter.

    • http://www.facebook.com/sandra.krytus Sandra Krytus

The problem with the argument to not vote for Mitt because he is a Mormon doesn’t explain how you can then vote for Obama who clearly (in spite of his claim) is not a Christian either.
Obama said you can know a man by the company he keeps. There is no one keeping company with Obama that would indicate, in the furthest reaches of your imagination, that he is a Christian.
He has attacked the various Christian denominations on several fronts, has ridiculed the Bible, has eliminated the National Day of Prayer in favor of Rhamadon, has prohibitted the giving of religious artifacts such as Bibles to the military, the list goes on and on.
So the person you referred to, they want us to vote for Obama, because, why? HE’S a Christian? In what dream world?

    • Pete

I sincerely hope all your friends see Obama the same way – and will VOTE.

    • http://www.facebook.com/Rtist4u Meri Coury

I love that you have voiced what of many of us are thinking. I’ve voiced it to, but many ignore me. I don’t get it… As soon as someone ELSE comes out with it, it’s okay, but like Ron Paul, my voice goes un-noticed. BTW: I love Ron Paul–But, I doubt he could “win” against Obama. So, unfortunately, Romney will get my vote this time. Maybe if his son were to run next time, I’ll vote for him.

    • Pete

Kathleen, I know how you feel. I came to the Lord Jesus Christ March 12, 1977. I have preached and taught for chuches of several denominations, and independent churches, in at least 12 states. After more than 30 years, I have stopped. Now I restrict myself to individual small group studies when invited and feeling it is the right place to be. I have found too many “true” Christians (at least in their opinion) are so judgmental in areas about which Scripture is silent, and so mean toward all who may see things differently, that I am embarrassed to be associated with them.
I know I am a “true” Christian, not because of my politics, but because of my faith in Jesus Christ as my Savior and my Lord. And, I am voting for Romney. I may not agree with his religion, but there is not one person in the race on either side with whom I agree. that leaves me with a choice or two. I can choose not to vote, which in my thinking would be very wrong. You see, if Obama is reelected, we may well have a communist style election next time around, right, Mr. Putin? That leaves me with a choice of a Muslim or a Mormon. Being an American, one who loves our nation, that is not a real choice, is it?
The Romney/Ryan ticket has my full support. And I am a Christian.

Evil does NOT like to be exposed! Like cockroaches in the light, they run for cover! Do NOT give up! We need true patriots and people of true faith to continue to “fight the good fight.” Not with swords and spears, but with the Word of God! Thank you for your service, and thank you for not giving up or backing down! As long as we have a voice we can promote the truth! It is when freedom of speech is silenced that evil rushes in to fill the void. Do NOT be silent! Work for the Night is Coming when no one can work (John 9:4)

Hey Raymond- they “embrace and promote what the Vatican teaches” so they are Catholics. You don’t like Catholics, Raymond? So you are “warning” people about reading these fellows? You know what Raymond- you have shown your true colors. Very sad indeed.

I post here all the time, Raymond. I am a conservative. All I care about right now is getting Barry out of office. Let’s try to stay focused on that goal. If you don’t agree with Catholics, Jews, Mormons, Buddhists, etc etc…what does that matter???

    • Raymond

1). I’ve always shown my true colors as you put it.

2). People said it didn’t matter that Obama was a
      muslim & look what happened.

3). What a person believes or does not believe
has a direct influence on his actions, Obama is
      proof of this.

      Gary DaMar teaches preterism.

Preterism is a Catholic eschatological view that interprets prophecies of the Bible,
especially Daniel and Revelation, as events which have already happened in the first century A.D.

      Preterism is 100% wrong.

“CHRISTIAN LIBERTY PRESS is a ministry of the Church of Christian Liberty in Arlington Heights, Illinois, which subscribes to the Presbyterian Westminster Confession of Faith. They believe in the five points of TULIP theology, including “the sovereign unconditional election of God, the particular redemption wrought by the death of Jesus Christ, and the irresistible grace of God.” Christian Liberty supports the Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and the Middle East Reformed Fellowship. They also promote the writings of Reconstructionists/Dominionists Gary North and Gary DeMar. One reader wrote, “When we started homeschooling we used Christian Liberty Press. They have some good material, but they also come from a Reformed perspective. Ironically they use the Jesuit motto ‘Ad maiorem Dei gloriam’ on their books.”

The left is simply following that which is practiced in Europe (Censorship). There are different flavors of various social political movements. obama wants collective control of our nation’s resources and productive facilities in order to dish out social justice. He’d rather we be a collective whole rather than see us as individuals enjoying competing freedoms. All this will do is foster poverty, unemployment and social inequality while justifying laziness and useful idiots. The European model isn’t working so why does this clown continue to lead us towards a path of destruction?…HATE!

Regardless, what the left or obama wants still boils down to a hatred for what the country stands for. A little case history will show that even enemies will come together for a common cause. apparently you are not understanding the difference of private and public here. Private, as I used it, was to point to a private entity owning it. Public would refer to the people owning it, like the White House or a sidewalk. See the difference. While this site allows the public access, it is not public property. It is private property. and also the other way round,

to consider the most wretched sort of life as paradise.”

    Adolf Hitler

    • gbsmitty

I’m not sure I agree with the premise of equality of ideas. I think socialism is the the sophist theory that we can all play nice in the sandbox. Communism or fascism are the police states that result when you try to make it happen. I’ve read this from many people who come from states that have tried to make the workers paradise, i.e. that it seems too good to be true and that does indeed work out to be the case.

    • 44rd11

Right on – try Cuba or Venezuela

    • capitalust

Socialism is total ownership of all property and means of production by the State. Communism is the implementation of socialism enforced at gunpoint including the elimination of any opposition.

    • LeSellers

No, they are not different from each other. Socialism must be implemented at the point of a gun because no one would live there very long. Communism was just Karl Marx’s choice as the name of his socialist economic system.

Mr. O’bama, where are the Jobs?

  • AmericanIcon

Given that the quoted respondent is probably a product of the government ‘education’ system, the problem should be obvious: Inability to express a thought coherently, resorting to vulgarity to ‘make a point’ he lacks the vocabulary to express otherwise, and no concept of what ‘communism’ is, or what Amendment I ‘protects’…but he probably has a diploma he can’t read and a ‘positive self image’.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=629591346 Gary Jones

yup, sounds like a progressive liberal that’s angry with a gun shooting people. I just want to see Obama charged for treason and stand trial and when found guilty use a gun for his execution without harm to others. My values as a Conservative Democratic not a Progressive punk.

    • georgetheclown

Lets first try BUSH & CHENEY for war Crimes.

    • 44rd11

what war crimes? Name the first war crime they committed?

    • Ruby_Con

How trite and tiresome, you are nothing more than a living, mouth breathing, cliche of a leftist drone.

    • NINJA10R KLR650

      Rube!

You need to be tried for complicity in treason for casting your vote for a Kenyan putz and thus imperiling your Nation.

You self centered, egotistic leftist carpetbaggers are quite a vile and base lot.

You cannot blame the media for leading you astray by not vetting the socialist shill Barry Insane Obama as you did it of your own free and frivolous will.

I hope your brain bursts on election night.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Elizabeth-Clark/1034112636 Elizabeth Clark

that is so stupid when the left agreed to everything Bush did, seeing that they controled the senate and the house for two years he was the president

    • flamzz22

Hey Georgie,,You Clown…What About the War That BO Has Us In RIGHT Now, And The Killing of All Our Soldiers….???

    • JeromefromLayton

I remember the “Rules of Engagement” from my six years in Vietnam. Very frustrating thing that caused a lot of casualties. It took Nixon’s guys over a year to undo MacNamara’s damage. Watching the current crop of leaders is a BOHICA experience of Deja Vu. Time to change things; don’t forget to vote.

    • JimRed

Your choice of screen names is interesting. And, from the content of your post, quite appropriate!
Please specify the war crimes charges, in sufficient detail to allow a proper response.

    • 44rd11

I’d rather see Barak HUSSEIN Obama hung like the hung Sadam HUSSEIN for crimes against his people.

    • rotor 700

Never the less, he still should have a right to express himself even if his comment sucks.

    • LeSellers

No one is claiming he has no right to express himself in this way.

We are saying that he has no right to express himself in this way here. Your free speech does not require that I listen to or publish your words. The I amendment does not guarantee you an audience.

Mr. O’bama, where are the Jobs?

    • NINJA10R KLR650

There were never supposed to be any jobs.

    • JimRed

You are correct. The more people dependent on government, the more votes for leftists who promise to take from others to give to them.

    • nmgene

If a person uses foul language and threatens violence they need to be banned. We are not lefties, we are American Patriots

    • NINJA10R KLR650

Well, after witnessing up close and personal 50 years of leftist garbage, I can tell you that for the sake of my Son’s and their future, I am ready and willing to kickleftistASS to the moon.

    • 44rd11

keep the vulgarity out – express yourself, if you can, with coherent thought and reason. It’s amazing to me that people damn Obama but can’t use his name while doing it.

    • Bill Cartwright

The person in question HAS the right to express themselves. Just as the owner of this site has the right to remove comments that are questionable( promoting violence, use of vulgar language, use of racial slurs, etc.). Using your logic, people using spray paint should be permitted to tag walls, truck trailers, train boxcars, etc. That can be considered as expressing ones self also. Should a church not ask someone to not use vile and/or vulgar language in the sanctuary? At no time has the writer/owner of this site said that the person in question should not be permitted to freedom of expression. Please reread the story.

I don’t know if it’s technically Communism or not, but I do know that it’s not Freedom of Speech”.

    • http://theawakenednation.ning.com/profile/KevinMKeener Snowman8wa

David, though I get your point and others in this thread, we can all agree that Freedom of Speech is also limiting, such as yelling “fire” in a stadium or theater. Any speech that causes harm to others is limited.
I agree that the owner SHOULD have a right to censure ignorant, illiterate, pinheads and their uninteligible comments that end up taking us away from the subject for no gained effect. Like BHO…….and his campaign…..
Just as we have a right to change channels, sometimes our only recourse left is to petition the moderator for civility. -JMHO

    • http://FrontPorchPolitics.com/ Tim Brown

David you still have freedom of speech, even if a comment is deleted. Again, it would do people well to understand that your freedom is not challenged by government here. You can post your free speech on facebook if you like:)

  • Jim

thank you. very clear and to the point. The LDS church has nothing to do with communism but people donate to a special fund (besides tithing) and uses it to store things that are and will be necessary for emergencies (food and more). See NBC show this Thurs ant 10 PM.

    • Indylady

It is true that Mormons store things for emergencies and to help others. But I am sure that anything produced by NBC is going to try to show Mormons as idiots since Mitt Romney is a member of that church. It will be more of their propaganda.
I am not a Mormon, but those that I know are good, decent and moral people. Why don’t they (NBC) check out obama’s Muslim faith or his relationship with Jeremiah Wright? Who am I kidding….they will never do that.

  • gbsmitty

We do tend to eliminate the ideas of the other side these days. I used to comment on Huff Puff but have been banned, not really for foul language as I understand it but because I have been constantly critical of the policies of the government. I suppose I was flagged enough that they just wiped me out. Both sides have become preachers to the choir these days. I can’t see any saving grace to socialism/fascism/communism but am willing to discuss the points. Evidetly they are not, and the disscident mentioned above thinks this side is not willing as well. Unfortunate, as when discussion ceases then other things emerge that are more distasteful.

    • USAForever48

Think up a new user name and get back on Huff N Puff. They need to be shaken up. Too many libs there anyway. I try to keep the pot well stirred, but I can’t do it all alone.

    • nmgene

I get so mad at the leftie lies and reach for my gun. I got tired of buying new computers!!!!!!!! LOL

    • USAForever48

I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve almost put my fist through my monitor. Some really stupid people are allowed to own and use computers and it frustrates me to no end sometimes. Thanks for the input. I absolutely sympathize with you!!!! Hang in there. It’ll get better. (Hopefully.) Be well.

    • http://twitter.com/ButlerBros Dale Tibbett

Doesn’t work. They still have your Internet ID which does not change.

    • USAForever48

Four of my friends have gotten back on Huff N Puff as new names – not revisions of their old names – but all new names. Thank you, Dale. Best wishes.

    • http://www.facebook.com/william.a.roderick William A. Roderick II

The very best way to “shake up the libs” is to vote BHO out Nov 6 2012

  • http://www.facebook.com/ronbrns Ron Burns

Any restriction of speech of almost any kind that is being done at the request or urging of government absolutely IS Communism. If a private organization does it out of self interest with NO government influence then it is absolutely NOT Communism but private property owner exercising and enforcing his own property rights. The government can not by definition do this as its property actually belongs to ALL the people so restricting their rights on it or to use it is in fact a trait of Communism.

    • del

I quit yahoo because they wanted permission to scan my stuff as well as that of my friends….who is reading the scans????ovomit or soros or hillary? I dont want any of those jerks looking at anything I say!

    • 44rd11

It matters not if you give your permission – believe it – Big brother and the Nanny state IS watching everything we do.

  • Sam

People forget that with every freedom we have also have responsibility. Your right to free speech stops at my nose. I don’t have to listen to it and I am glad when I see someone else running a clean show so others don’t get offended. Seems today that too many people just want to rage and run their mouth instead of seeking knowledge and understanding.

    • rotor 700

Remember, they will go away if you ignor them!

    • NINJA10R KLR650

Depends……..I am waiting for the left to curl up and die but so far, they just keep getting more obnoxious and more violent.

It’s getting to be “OUR” time to clean things up.

    • http://www.facebook.com/william.a.roderick William A. Roderick II

Unfortunately the left as you call them will only “curl up and die” when Jesus Christ rules this world from Jerusalem.

  • http://www.facebook.com/timothy.horrigan Timothy Horrigan

It’s communism only in the sense that anything you don’t like is “communism.” A social media site is the property of the people who created the site, and it is up to them to decide what comments, if any, are posted next to the content which they placed there.

  • Bill

Absolutely and Huffpost is by far the worst . I won’t even comment there
    anymore..

    • USAForever48

I do just to antagonize them. Haven’t gotten banned yet. I keep waiting, but so far, so good. The more I can provoke the libs, the better I like it.!!! They are the stupidest people on the planet. I swear!

    • 44rd11

Yes, I suppose you are a Christian too?
