GOP May Adopt More Sound Policies In Platform

gold moneyIt appears that at least two of the issues that people claimed were ‘extremist’ which were promoted by Ron Paul, not only in this election cycle but also for the past thirty years, may find their way into the Republican party platform this year. In light of the GOP taking on language of returning to a gold standard and auditing the Federal Reserve, it would appear that the GOP presidential candidate and Texas Congressman’s ideas have finally gained traction in the Republican party.

Although I’m not optimistic about a real audit of the Federal Reserve, at least it is getting a hearing about being in the platform. The reason for a lack of optimism is because the question must be “Who is auditing the Fed?” If it’s the Treasury department then that is nothing more than letting the fox guard the hen house. If it’s someone other than government that still doesn’t make one easy about it, though I confess such a measure would be better. After all the Federal Reserve is not a government entity and they are doing something they don’t have Constitutional authority to do.

Now returning to a gold standard is a good thing. Already precious metals markets are responding to the chatter about a gold standard in the GOP platform. The Daily Caller reports,

As Republicans debate returning to the gold standard, traders are more bullish about gold than at anytime in the last nine months.

“There’s no doubt about it, this is gold’s moment,” Charles Morris of HSBC Global Asset Management in London told Bloomberg. “All the long-term trend signals suggest that gold is in a very strong bull market.”

According to Bloomberg News, “Twenty-nine of 35 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg expect prices to rise next week.”

Republicans will adopt their party platform this coming week at their national convention in Tampa. Proposals to audit the Federal Reserve and create a commission to study the gold standard are likely to be included as planks.

According to CNBC,

The gold standard has returned to mainstream U.S. politics for the first time in 30 years, with a “gold commission” set to become part of official Republican party policy.

Drafts of the party platform, which it will adopt at a convention in Tampa Bay, Florida, next week, call for an audit of Federal Reserve monetary policy and a commission to look at restoring the link between the dollar and gold.

The move shows how five years of easy monetary policy — and the efforts of congressman Ron Paul — have made the once-fringe idea of returning to gold-as-money a legitimate part of Republican debate.

Marsha Blackburn, a Republican congresswoman from Tennessee and co-chair of the platform committee, said the issues were not adopted merely to placate Paul and the delegates that he picked up during his campaign for the party’s nomination.

Whether the party is doing this to appease Ron Paul or his supporters though is unknown. There is no doubt that these issues would not be front and center without him bringing them to that position though. It is good fiscal policy.

I’d say that if you haven’t been buying gold or silver, now would be the time to invest in “real money,” because should the Fed print more money, you can bet your investment will go up Since neither party is offering a balanced budget, but will continue in deficit spending, the money invested in precious metals will do nothing but continue to grow.

ARMY: Some other things to consider:
    1. No government office holder or employee shall receive any health care, vacation or retirement benefits that exceeds that of the same level in the private sector, including the President, cabinet members, the full Congress and the Supreme court.

    2. No taxpayer money shall be used to fund programs or projects that entitle non citizens foreign or domestic to any support or aid that is not absolutely necessary. National disasters, exempted for allies only.

    3. All Constitutional issues relating to US sovereignty, Rule of Laws, resources and power, foreign aid, immigration, UN Treaties, etc. shall be approved by the legal, eligible voting citizens by a 3/4 majority.

Mr. Romney shall end up with a huge list of “TO-DOS” , by the end of October. I do hope he actually attends to the most urgent ones , and later to the important ones too.

I really don’t think the republicans are serious about any gold standard besides the gold in their pockets. This is just to placate Paul people. They will do a “study committee” and then bury it. Just like in Congress. After this election a third party is in order.

I want to hear the following
1: All illegal aliens must leave our country inside 60 Days
2: All military personnel and armaments to be brought back here inside 90 days
3: All so called wars ended immediately
4: warn all nations that we shall annihilate a whole city of theirs if any American gets killed, ANYWHERE.
5: ALL GOVERNMENT employee payrolls must be reduced in half in 1 year.
6: All public employee unions shall be dissolved immediately
7: All agencies shall be re evaluated re their usefulness
8: No more US TAXPAYERS MONIES going to ANY nations, PERIOD.
    9: OBAMACARE …DECLARED ILLEGAL immediately
10: Drill for oil in our country, and bring out the coal right away
11: Remove all laws if the land that makes anyone “different” from anyone else. No more MINORITY nonsense. We are all created equal.
Then, I might start to believe in my government again.

Armyof69: My dear sir, what is your suggestion then, to defend our democratic (or republics) allies? Do you propose to let them be taken over by the liberals, socialists, communists, or radical Islamists? We promised to help keep them safe from aggression, and now you want us to break that promise? I agree we need to get out of Afghanistan…they’re killing our soliders at an alarming rate and we’re not allowed to use the hollow-point ammo that our stateside so-called peacekeepers use. Would you REALLY like to see the Czchec Republic go down in flames? Or our best ally, Israel be wiped out? If you know anything about the Bible, then you know that when Christ comes again, He will usher in the New Jerusalem, but will come to Israel…and you want his welcome to be…what? Non-existant? Please re-think that. My Granddaughter just was sent to Korea to protect our allies there. She understands the importance of that, and was willing. I pray for her daily, but I also pray for those Koreans who will suffer if N. Korea runs over them as they are wont to do. Please, please, stop being a Paul-Bot and re-think just those points #2 & #3, AND #8. We cannot be a great nation if we’re isolationists.

    • ridale

Dear PoorPitifulPearl parent, how long would you stay to fight a fire at your neighbor’s house if your own was burning? How much food would you hand out to others when your own children were hungry? How far are you willing to put your children in debt tomorrow, for the sake of others today? Its one thing to give of yourself as you wish. Our nation has gone far past that. We are giving away our children’s future for things that make us feel good today. That is the most evil thing a nation could ever do.

      ” CHARITY STARTS AT HOME”

    • ARMYOF69

We do NOT place a policeman in every home in case the neighbor gets nasty. We have a central place for the police who we call if needed. Same should go for all our military. I served , but when seeing 50 thousand youngsters killed for NO GOOD REASON, it’s difficult to now believe in my federal system that sends the military to get killed overseas, under all sorts of excuses. The ONLY people gaining anything out of these so called wars, are the politicians, and the few elite war machinery manufacturers. Meantime we murder hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians for no good reason.
DEFENSE IS BEING WELL ARMED AND WATCHFUL HERE AT HOME.

    • ixnay00

if they would just stop giving them free money, welfare, rent , schooling, colledge, etc… they would go back to mexico

    • ixnay00

you also have to stop the u.n. from sponsering muslims to come here and use the same subsidies. they are the worst illegals because they try to make everyone believe worshiping their moon god is a religeon and try to change our constitution to fit their beliefs. if ever there is going to be a people we will have to fight in this country it will be muslims when they try too take over with their leader oboma.

Ixnay, this is true but how about all of the Middle East Terrorists that have accompanied them? No, we have to deport them all! Illegal is Illegal!

How in the hell will we annihilate a city if our military personnel/armaments are all brought home!!!???

I agree that our government payrolls are bloated, BUT such an immediate and drastic cut as you propose will throw our fragile economy into a tailspin

I understand your frustration. We are in serious trouble on multiple levels and need to get busy putting our country back together; I do think we should remember that this will be a process, not an event.

Our problems are the result of many years of foolishness, and our recover will likely take more time, effort and sacrifice than anyone of us will be happy about

Most of your points are well taken, though

How in the hell will we annihilate a city if our military personnel/armaments are all brought home!!!???Ever hear of OUR air force?

    • Yupperdoodle

So let me get this straight…..you propose USAF fly a herd of bombers over thousands of miles of probably mostly hostile airspace, perform tricky in-air refueling? Seriously, get yourself a hot cup of shut the hell up

    • ARMYOF69

Are you 90 years old or what? We no longer need a “herd of bombers” to take care of one city. Please go get your “old man” sleep, sounds like you need it.

    • Yupperdoodle

Crawl back into your mother’s basement

    • Rick

Depending on the size of the city, it should only take one bomber and one MOAB; that should do the trick; if not, use tw MOAB’S

    • kkc003

Voting for obozo and not Romney will definitely not make things better- he will bus illegals in, take guns away, honor evil nations, destroy our nation in 12 months financially and minimize what the military can do so now thd war is on our soil- if we last that long once Iran nukes us-

    • Rick

One boomer submarine would take care of the entire iran. I oughta know, I used to work on the first generation of boomers.

True, but there must be the political courage to actually USE them. Think Obummer has it? The mullahs would trade New York for Tehran anytime. Maybe Obummer would just SURRENDER!
