In an utterly self-serving display of politicizing the tragedy that took place out in Aurora, Colorado, Colorado Democrat Rep. Ed Perimutter claimed during an online town hall meeting on Monday that victims of the shooting “would be uninsurable” without the health care law implemented by Barack Obama.
“[U]nder the Affordable Care Act they can’t be discriminated against starting in 2014,” he said.
Perimutter told his constituents that Obamacare would “stop the discrimination against people with prior illnesses or injuries — or, say, some of the folks who were shot in the theater.”
Like a good liberal, he also called for more gun control, including a renewal of the federal government’s 1994 assault weapons ban.

Perlmutter was among the first politicians to politicize the movie theater tragedy, allegedly carried out by former graduate student James Holmes. Congressman Perlmutter leveraged the shooting, barely 48 hours after it occurred for political purposes.
Well I guess we’ve seen it all here. We assume that gun control freaks will try and take shootings and turn them into advertisements for more gun control. That is just a given, but to try and make a pitch for Obamacare and pre-existing conditions in this matter? Well, personally I’m at a loss for words here.
I do wonder however, since it’s two years before that kicks in, how is this representative helping those people now? The fact is, he isn’t and on top of that, it’s quite possible and highly likely that many of the people injured were already covered under their own health care plan. In either case, if they didn’t have insurance or if they did have insurance, they all received the necessary treatment they needed. Some will pay more and some less, but their medical needs were attended too.
That right there demonstrates that Obamacare is just not needed and it is a sickening thing to listen to this man as he tries to make a political profit from such an event.
