Australia Warns America: Don’t Let Them Take Your Guns!

Government officials and citizens in Australia speak out to warn America “Don’t Let Them Take Your Guns!” According to reports when the Gun Ban went into effect in Australia the crime rate spiraled out of control. The police officers are overwhelmed and are unable to protect the citizens due to so much crime.

When the forced gun ban (buy back program) went into effect law abiding citizens had to turn in their semi automatic firearms, pump action rifles, and shotguns or face going to jail. Six hundred forty thousand conventional firearms were taken out of the hands of law abiding citizens, confiscated and destroyed. Law abiding citizens followed the law and turned in their weapons. Citizens were promised safety in return for turning in their guns. Does any of this sound familiar, like UN Gun Treaty perhaps?

Since the gun ban in Australia, armed robberies are up 69%, assaults with guns up 28%, gun murders increased 19%, and home invasions jumped 21%. More proof that not only does gun control not work, it makes it safer for the criminals at large. In their words

“The cost of lost liberty can be measured in the loss of life”

Andy Dunn from the South Australian Police Association states “The bad guys are happy to break into somebody’s house. They are not frightened to break into somebody’s house while their at home.” He also states “It is very bad right now. It has never been worse.” The police can’t protect the civilians now, because they are undermanned and their morale has never been lower according to reports.

Wake up America! To those Anti-gun activists, you need to realize this is going to affect you also. Wake up before it is too late. Will the United States listen to the warning Australia is sending us? Will it make a difference? I truly hope so. I would like to thank the Australians for taking the time to warn us about the effects of gun-control in their country. Although many of us know what affect gun control has on our nation, many do not and have been fooled by the smooth talking politicians. Others seem to be in the mind set that it doesn’t affect them. Without our right to bear arms, our right to protect ourselves, our family, and our home will be gone. Thus allowing the Constitution to be destroyed by politicians for the sake of their agenda.

I have lived around guns my entire life. The people who live around me and have guns are not a threat to anyone. We are currently learning how to defend ourselves if our homes are threatened. Now…this is new. The idea of being threatened is new to me.

For each “registered gun you own, create a Word Doc “Bill of Sale” such as you would if you actually sold a gun. Make room for signatures but since it’s a doc, don’t sign it. I Jim Jims On Date_________ Sold to Jim Smith one Luger 9mm, Serial No________ He is responsible for registering this gun per the laws in the state he resides in.
This might help on a later date if needed. Too bad you lost the copy that both of you signed, or create a signed copy for your records..

Know what might be a good idea? Send a letter to the editor in your local newspaper using these statistics. If the newspaper sees fit to print it you have automatically gained dozens if not hundreds of new supporters for the second amendment and made it a lot more difficult for the socialists to gain traction from any random shooting.

Does Austrailia have the opportunity to recind their short sighted action and restore gun ownership to its citizens? Or do the people and their government believe over time the police will be able to control the criminals and everyone will be unarmed? Small consolation to the countless law-abiding citizens that must be assaulted and murdered with impunity because the police force is playing catch up. I prefer armed citizens to armed government the citizens are less confused about the governments role and the criminal is caught in the cross fire.

  I gladly trust the law abiding gun owner, I feel comfortable with them by my side, in front of me, or at my back. I turn around (not watching what they are doing) because I have no need to fear them. I know if I am in need, the law abiding armed citizen will help, just as I would, unlike our politicians that are trying to strip away our rights.

This has to be the stupidest load of garbage I’ve ever read in my life. I’m a South Australian police officer and I can assure you that your facts are wrong. There is no ‘gun ban’. Semi-automatic rifles were placed on strict control after the Port Arthur massacre in 1996. Other firearms, including semi-automatic pistols are still allowed however in general, the laws are stricter with regards to background checks, control and reasons for owning them. Farmers for example, are exempt from certain restrictions for pest control reasons (kangaroos, rabbits, emus and other crop damaging wildlife). As the law stands now, a licenced gun owner can legally purchase a military style semi-automatic hand gun with a magazine capacity of 10 rounds and an unlimited supply of ammunition. Children as young as 12 (under 12 in the state of WA and the NT) can use these weapons under adult supervision.

Crime rates are no worse than they ever have been and the Port Arthur massacre is only one of two massacres we’ve ever had in modern times.

Before posting an article favouring your argument, you should check your facts (and your incorrect spelling and grammar). You’ve basically just made a complete fool of yourself with incorrect information. Before you all get on your high horse about gun control, I should point out that I’m not arguing in favour for or against – I really couldn’t care less. I’m pointing out that your facts are wrong and the entire argument is complete rubbish because that is definitely not how it is here.

This article is such a joke. You make it sound as if Australia is riddled with crime and violence and that we all live here with fences around our property to protect us like they do in South Africa. I can assure you that is not the case.

You actually think a video of a couple who experienced a home invasion proves that crime is through the roof here? Get a grip. That stuff happens in EVERY country EVERY day and I can tell you one thing- the Australian sentiment is NOT to warn Americans about anti-gun laws. The constant mass shootings and massacres in America have made the US a laughing stock to so many Australians. America is being ridiculed, not warned.

This “ban” you are reporting on came about in the mid-90s. Don’t post about it now and act like it’s new information and that because some video had 5 or so pro-gun individuals interviewed about the ban we are all here sending out warnings to the US. It’s just completely not true.
