The hidden agenda and their danger to America.

F. A. Hayek author of “The Road to Serfdom” warned us of the political dangers that exist in times of war

Not so long ago…in an empire not so different from our own nation today…he warned about what kinds of dangerous mischievousness politicians get into…in even strong, well established societies.

He cautions that it is in times of war (real or imagined) when our hard won liberties are all too easily given up…and too often lost forever in the name of “national sacrifice”, “common cause”, and/or “common purpose” of security, safety, and “victory.”

He warned that politicians are all to aware of the seductive and expansive power that wars place into their hands…All they need do is ask the people for “common sacrifices,” to temporarily surrender their rights and freedoms for the common good…to address “the emergency,” to “avoid disaster,” to “save the nation” from all kinds of terrible crisis…

It is the always the perceived common enemy that unites the whole…brings different factions together in willingness do whatever it takes to win, and beat the enemy. And willingly the populations give up their rights, liberties, freedom, and many things that our forefathers fought and died to secure and protect.

Sometimes, it may in fact be good and necessary in real wars, where there is a quantifiable threat that can be overcome and an clear end in sight…such that we may then return society to its previous norms…

But Hayek warns of the dangers of politicians who created metaphors of wars, with no quantifiable or objective endpoint…like the “war on drugs,” “the war on poverty,” “the war on ‘terror’”…so-called wars that can be endless and therefore, never return society to normal status where liberties and freedoms, the rights of the people are restored and government returned to it less intrusive and smaller footprint.

GOVERNMENT seldom relinquishes power easily…Hayek warns, eternal vigilance is the only solution to the problem.
