Senator Coburn: Both Parties Abandoned Limited Government

caucus-coburn-budget-blog480Sen. Tom Coburn says that “Both parties have equally participated in abandoning the limited role of the federal government.” He argues that both Republicans and Democrats have brought the U.S. to the edge of the fiscal cliff in his new book The Debt Bomb: A Bold Plan to Stop Washington from Bankrupting Our Economy.

ReasonTv’s Nick Gillespie interviewd Sen. Coburn to discuss these issues and what Sen. Coburn thinks needs to be done in order to turn the tide.

Sen. Coburn is the equivalent of Congressman Ron Paul in the House. Known in the Senate as “Dr. No”, Coburn was first elected to the House in 1994. He is a fiscal and social conservative who has been an outspoken critic of members of the House and Senate and government waste.

Coburn claims that the federal budget is riddled with “waste, fraud, and duplication.” He exposes this each year. In 2010 he was instrumental in getting the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to research and document wasteful government programs.

His 2011 “Guide to Some of the Most Wasteful and Low Priority Government Spending of 2011″ Wastebook is his latest exposure of the enormous amount of our money going to utterly meaningless and purposeless frivolities. You can also follow Wastebook via Facebook.

” THE TRUTH” coming from a senators’ mouth. It’s a miracle. Must be the end of the world.

Big Government is correct it is both parties very few are standing up for we the Tax-Payers. Who can doubt that something very sinister is going on in our government. The Bible tells us in the latter days of an endtime nation that chillingly resembles America where God says i shall send them strong Delusion and i will send them Fanners round and about Fanners is a hebrew word for aliens or strangers to a land who come in the context God used to do harm and tear down, there is much more about this endtime nation; maybe it’s America and maybe not, but the semilarities only seem to apply to America.

Senator Coburn should be the next Senate Majority Leader!

    • http://twitter.com/redpens68 Gary

And either Michele Bachmann or Allen West for House Speaker

    • VINCERE

      Good choice.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/HADKEKLJD7ZYKVIJXVPQG3EJGE major

I agree Bachmann brought up her concerns about the Muslims and immediately the Big RINO McCain jumps in to take up for the Muslim in question. This is serious and it should be looked into i was hoping someone would do so, but I should have known that the Decieved Idiots would cry racism.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/HADKEKLJD7ZYKVIJXVPQG3EJGE major

Whoa I read your post and thought you said McCain and i wrote a long scathing remark and was about to post it I had the RINO McCain on my mind I agree with you about Coburn, I wish we could elect him president but the Communist Media would go to work 24/7 to undermine him.

  • windeaces

We thought we had elected three new tea party conservatives here in Mississippi but upon all voting to raise the debt limit it was seen that they were nothing but rino’s in tea party clothing.

  • Les Paul

We got to stop sending Washington MONEY! It’s the only way to put the brakes on spending. We must stop their intrusive power over us and take back our government to a and make it financially sound and working for us not the power hungry elite who has taken control of our entire lives. Speak out loud and with commitment. We’re not going to take it anymore!

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/HADKEKLJD7ZYKVIJXVPQG3EJGE major

That sounds good in theory but it can’t happen people that work for companies have it taken out by mandate. Business owners that don’t send it will simply be shut down and hounded for the rest of their lives until the money they left owing is payed they take your bank account, garnish your wages take your property. The IRS is one of the most ruthless, powerful agencies in our government that has ruined the lives of many many Americans.

Speaker of the House John Boehner has to go! I agree with you wholeheartedly Randy131, Boehner has been nothing but a weak kneed speaker who doesn’t even act like he supports the Republicans. It’s obvious that he is afraid of what obama would think of him instead of standing up for the people and demanding that people like Eric Holder be held accountable for what they have done. His compromising has only hurt the Conservatives and he shows no signs of being a leader. The sooner he is removed as Speaker of the House, then possibly our government can begin to restructure and start working on the economy. In the meantime, obama has to be voted out or none of this will happen. The communist/liberal/muslim loving dictator has to be removed or our country is doomed.

  • joeeeeeeee

The public sector will always vote to enslave the private sector to keep their lifestyles. And both parties are public sector.

  • nexgenesis

He is calling it right. Republican rinos and demoncrats are like 2 peas in a pod. They think alot alike and they embrass the power structure not the nations best interests, Good example for the rinos is Sen McCain for starts. We desparately need term limits on Senators and Representatives. The Founding Father’s never intended for public service to be a career.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/HADKEKLJD7ZYKVIJXVPQG3EJGE major

McCain is the worst of the worst that phoney is a Disgrace to this Republic I was really hoping this phoney would get voted out, but not so; it shows just how ignorant the voters in this country are either that or the elections are rigged and our votes don’t count.

  • Wolf-Talker1

And since when is this news? Anybody with their eyes open should have seen this a long time ago!

TIME TO BANNED LIERALISM, COMMUNISM, MARXXISM
SOCIALISM IN AMERICA A TREASON CRIME IN AMERICA THAT WOULD CARRY LIFE IN PRISON OR THE DEATH PENALTY. THIS WOULD BE THE BEST WAY TO SAVE OUR NATION.

  • pearl

He may have some good ideas, but he is no Ron Paul. He voted for the NDAA, the Patriot Act, and the bailouts. He is a “convenient” Constitutionalist, saying he supports limited govt, then voting to expand its reach.

    • Edward53

Is there really anybody that is like Ron Paul? Thank God there isn’t.

  • harrydweeks

Coburn is right. That’s why the Tea Party is surgically going after BIG GOVERNMENT representatives, regardless of which party they are in. Keep going, throw out the big spenders and maybe we can get a Balance Budget Amendment passed . It’s the only way America survives.

  • Randy131

Senator Coburn is correct when saying both parties abandoned limited government, and is the reason for the Tea Party movement in the Republican Party, which is wreaking havoc on the entrenched party elite because of their failure to stick to the principles and philosophies of conservatism and the real Republican Party’s goals of limitied government and lower taxes, to instigate economic success for all people of the USA. After the 2012 national elections, I hope the Tea Party members of the Republican Party will vote as a bloc to replace John Boehner as Speaker of the House, and install a true conservative that will stand up and fight for our causes, instead of compromising and capitulating to the Democratic Party’s agendas and policies.

    • Palrak

Boehner has turned out to be a huge disappointment. I had high hopes for him in the beginning. His sing-songy, mostly empty speeches make me cringe.

    • Randy131

My sentiments, ‘Exactly’! I want actions, not false and empty speeches, and for people to do what they say and not make excuses. I can accept defeat, I just cannot accept failure to make an attempt or effort to stop what all knows is wrong and dangerously harmful to the USA and it’s people. Compromising principles is nothing less than capitulation, the ‘Founding fathers’ knew this, why not the leaders of today?

  • Doski

Pure genius. What can one expect from a Temp. Employee who is allowed to determine his own work requirements, wages, credit card limit and retirement benefits ? Worse yet are the morons who re-elect these morons.

To Senator Coburn and anyone who wants a “history lesson”! Both parties abandoned “limited government”, with the help of secret, closed door dealing, with the Rothchilds- -in a “secret act” call “The Organic Act of 1871″- -that was when the US became a “corporation” instead of a free Republic! This bit of information was NEVER taught, to US, during our school years- -and THAT was “intentional”. WE THE PEOPLE were supposed to NEVER KNOW THIS! This means we have to be even more careful about who we elect in Nov. and make certain those individuals will work to revoke the traitorous act and take US back to 1870 and the REAL US Constitution!

    • http://twitter.com/redpens68 Gary

Then we start demanding the repeal of the Organic Act

    • ARMYOF69

Hey June, maybe you know the answer to this one. I seem to remember a long time ago reading about how the constitution said ” NO lawyers shall serve as Representatives or Senators”. If I remember correctly , it had been ratified, but not found in the constitution any longer.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Papich/100000029359454 Michael Papich

The Republican has NEVER been a limited government party.
