Romney Ready To Flip Or Flop On Obamatax?

16609200427305468025This morning on MSNBC, Romney adviser, Eric Fehrnstrom got taken off message by Chuck Todd. In doing so he just reawakened fears that conservatives have had about Romney’s inability to really fight against Barack Obama this year. In other words, look out, it’s McCain 2008 all over again. In fact, things are so bad that conservatives are demanding that Romney either call it a tax and fight it or get out of the way and let someone else do it.

This really should come as no surprise to anyone. Obamacare was built on what Romney did in Massachusetts and before anyone starts going off on me, yes, Romney was all for it and still claims to be “very proud of what he accomplished” in regards to Romneycare in Massachusetts. Romney will get pummled on this issue throughout the campaign and what is he going to say? Nothing. Sure, people enjoy the rhetoric about him repealing Obamacare, but then no one demands of him what he is going to replace it with. After all, he uses that phrase too.

The editor of Breitbart.com, Joel Pollak, picks up the action today,

Fehrnstrom’s point–in defense of Romneycare–was that the Supreme Court was wrong to uphold Obamacare under the taxing power. The individual mandate was never intended to be a tax, Congress never called it a tax, and it wasn’t a tax in Massachusetts, either. Fine–but now that Obama’s lawyers went to court and called it a tax, and Chief Justice John Roberts called it a tax (and spare us the non-distinction between “tax” and the “taxing power”) Obamacare is, undeniably, a massive tax on the middle class. Obama lied. It’s that simple.

The GOP primary is over, and this is not a mistake that Fehrnstrom can merely shake away. It’s going to be used–and already is being used–by the Obama campaign to save itself from the tax argument, and to label Romney as a liar (when that label belongs squarely on Obama, who campaigned against Hillary Clinton’s individual mandate in 2008). Perhaps this is why Rupert Murdoch has been calling openly for Romney to “drop…old friends from [his] team and hire…some real pros,” as he did on Twitter yesterday.

Pollak ends his article with, “This ain’t Etch-A-Sketch, Mitt. Go hard or go home.” Seems to me, conservatives should have thought about this before voting for him in the primaries.

On the flip side of things, while presumptive nominee Romney is considering whether to flip or to flop on the individual mandate, his competitor Texas Congressman Ron Paul continues to remain consistent and still has some fight left in him over the individual mandate.

In regards to the Supreme Court’s ruling on Thursday, Paul said,

“I strongly disagree with today’s decision by the Supreme Court, but I am not surprised. The Court has a dismal record when it comes to protecting liberty against unconstitutional excesses by Congress.”

“Today we should remember that virtually everything government does is a ‘mandate.’” Paul declared. “The issue is not whether Congress can compel commerce by forcing you to buy insurance, or simply compel you to pay a tax if you don’t,” said the Texas Republican. “The issue is that this compulsion implies the use of government force against those who refuse. The fundamental hallmark of a free society should be the rejection of force. In a free society, therefore, individuals could opt out of “Obamacare” without paying a government tribute.”

Paul told his supporters, “Those of us in Congress who believe in individual liberty must work tirelessly to repeal this national health care law and reduce federal involvement in healthcare generally. Obamacare can only increase third party interference in the doctor-patient relationship, increase costs, and reduce the quality of care. Only free market medicine can restore the critical independence of doctors, reduce costs through real competition and price sensitivity, and eliminate enormous paperwork burdens. Americans will opt out of Obamacare with or without Congress, but we can seize the opportunity today by crafting the legal framework to allow them to do so.”

Like him or not, Ron Paul doesn’t change his message to fit his audience. He stays on point and isn’t intimidated by what people think of him. He is one that overwhelmingly stands for the Constitution, which means he stands for the American people.

A few weeks ago, I wrote an article entitled “Romney’s Foreign Policy Advisers Exposed as Globalists” where I compiled a list of the 22 individuals selected by Mitt Romney to serve as his foreign policy advising team back in October 2011.

Along with the names of each of these individuals, I included a list of globalist, neo-con, or otherwise nefarious organizations or government offices that they belong to or have belonged to in the past.

Besides announcing a foreign policy advising team, Romney also announced 13 (interesting number) working groups dedicated to regional and issue-specific policies. It is not surprising that the individuals, although somewhat less important in terms of their pedigree, are themselves diehard globalists.

Romney will NOT do a thing in earnest. It will all be a show. He made the statement about ObamaCare a few months ago, “There’s nothing to get all mad about.” He WILL NOT CHANGE IT.
Neither he nor Obama should sit in the Oval Office. We already have 54 in Congress on the CAIR/and other Muslim Payrolls; and Romney decided he would help the Muslims.

Romney came out in support of the Muslims in Our Country– with a PLAN for” Islamist Owned Charter Schools”! Again! We should be expecting them to assimilate into OUR Country NOT make Our Country Over for Them! http://www.exposeobama.com/2012/06/05/romney-push

Whatever you do Mr Romney, please don’t flip or flop on Obamacare.Be stern, tough and to the point and tell it the way it is with common sense and Truth.Time is getting short so don’t waste a minute to educate the American people on the Truth of the matter at hand. How bad Obamacare really is.

Sorry all here but the the Health care bill is going to make life a whole lot easier for all and does not take away your freedom.

romney needs to stop the political jargon speak. call things what they are and bring the issues to obama. have a real conversation with the american people. we are sick of double speak and lies. if he can’t then drop out.

  • debradrs@aol.com

I think that is why Ron Paul and Santorum are not continuing on except as you suggest write ins. I do not think that Romney has won the Republican Party’s required delegates and I think Ron Paul had won close to what Romney had.

  • debradrs@aol.com

Tod, Then you lose your vote. Unless there is a very strong chance of Ron Paul being elected you just diluted us and gave Obomination the office.

  • tod

romneys no different then barry, just another New world Order A $$ Hole !! ! Dr.Ron Paul Even if We Have To Write Him In !!!

They didn[‘t vote FOR him in primary, GOP reported their desired numbers, ballots WEREN”T used only propaganda, Romney doesn’t have 30% approval anywhere., won’t in national election either, so keep allowing your GOP to destroy the office and your party.

  • debradrs@aol.com

I HAVE NEVER VOTED DEMOCRATIC and was Independent until Pat Robertson was a possible candidate. I SPECIFICALLY joined the Republican Party to try and get him on the Ballot. I remained on the Republican rolls for that same reason to try and influence who the Party chose. I think it is a failed system if Democrats are allowed to influence the Republican outcome and then vote Democratic, but that is FREEDOM. The Party should be able to tell when that is happening and discount them the same way they discounted me when I voted for Pat Robertson. Romney is a lesser Obama. Tweedle Dee Tweedle Dum. With Obama everything will be fast tracked with Romney it will go a little slower but ALL LEADING to the same serfdom. We need a real strong third Party. I WANT RON PAUL but cannot in good conscience vote for him other than in the Primary because in November it is Repub or Dem we get stuck with period. The Repubs need to choose the better of the two not the lookalike to get us off the road to Freedom’s destruction.
I have come up with what I think is a fair, cheaper alternative, where even a non-millionaire would have a fighting chance. Every legal age person puts up for consideration who they think would be the best for a particular office; for District, State and President. Each of those people publishes their bio and if elected, what they would like to see done. Out of all those choices by the people not by a Party, the top three that had the most people think they should be considered for a particular office continue on to be voted for or against by every person who pays taxes, regardless of Party affiliation. Also continuing on any person who pays taxes who is in the top say 25% should be given a platform. The State and Federal government decides how much is to be spent on advertising for each candidate for each round and how many rounds for each office; the top three choices regardless of their tax paying status and the rest of the top 25% is given the same amount to spend how ever they desire for their campaign at first; the kitty is spit equally. Each District gets to see all of their candidates for office, each State gets to see all their candidates and the whole nation those to be President. No one is allowed to say we are going to do this miracle without raising taxes, unless it is thoroughly researched and will work that way, otherwise just this is what I would like to do, but right now i do not have a plan. No liars and No fudgers. The next round of funds the State and Federal dole out is not as equally divided and again the whole district, State and Nation have decided by vote whom they prefer and only the top 25% of the candidates left go on to the next round and only those who actually pay taxes get to vote until the candidates are whittled down to only two choices for each office, then the whole district votes, the whole State votes and the whole nation votes. May the best person win. Taxes would pay for it all. No corporate favor, no millionaire out spending another.
The Tax code would need to be leveled as well. No loopholes. If you make a profit then you pay the same amount everyone else pays wither you are an entity or a person, say 10%; that is what God requires. All monies in would be taxable regardless of the method, salary, sale, increase on a stock, bond or any other increase of that sort. No increase in corporate salaries to lower your profit. Death would not be taxed. That seems like a triple tax to me. First the corporation paid taxes on their increase which paid your salary, then you paid taxes on your salary then you die and your inheritors have to pay a tax on your accumulation if any. Somehow that is wrong. Especially where our farmers do not have money and their land is part of the death tax and their children cannot afford to pay it. BUT would continue to farm. When they change the use of the land of their departed ancestor, that is when the land should be taxed.
I could go on and on fixing things in my head.
WHAT WE NEED IS SOMEONE WITH BETTER IDEAS OF HOW TO FIX THIS BIG MESS TO RUN FOR OFFICE. . . . . . . .and can speak in public, I cannot

Justice Roberts just blew out of the
water the argument that Conservatives should support Mitt Hussein Romneycare
because of the court appointments Barack Obama would make. It was a Bush
appointee that saved Obmacare. It is clear liberal Republicans like Romney and
any judges they appoint are going to govern like liberals regardless of
    campaign rhetoric.

    Look
at Romney’s record and that of his father, former Michigan Governor and
one-time presidential hopeful George Romney. Forget about what he says.
Mitt is a chip off the old block. Why on earth should I or anyone else trust
his statements? He knows he has to carry the tea party types to get
elected. He will say what he has to say to get elected. Then
shake the Etch-a-Sketch when he goes to govern.

Remember George H.W. Bush, “Read my lips: no new taxes”?

  • sovereintyofone

I feel like I’m sitting in on a twilight zone poker game. The dealer of the house is the government and the stakes are two presidential candidates, Obama and Romney. No matter what hand you are dealt is a losing hand and the government holds all the winning cards. It’s a rigged game no matter how you look at it.

In many respects I believe the Mitt the Mormon is far more dangerous than Obama. We know all we need to know about Obama to identify him as a threat to the Republic. What wee know of Romney is enough to make him unelectable. What we don’t know about him, and his vacillating views on just about everything, is enough to make his Presidency a catastrophe.

    • smilingavenger

OK, so if Mormonism is a greater danger to the Republic than Obama has been, wouldn’t states like Idaho, Utah and Nevada with high concentrations of Mormon Christians be uninhabitable? Would the settlement of the Western US by Mormon pioneers prior to statehood have been a disaster?
Or more practically speaking, does Mitt’s record with the 2002 Olympics indicate an inexperienced hack trying to be more than an amateur? Does Mitt’s record at Bain Capital show a lack of ethics or good decision making? Does Mitt’s record in Massachusetts with the voters there show a poor leader?
Where is the logic to your biased statements??
