Obama Spokeswoman: Conservatives Are Bigots & Racists


obama spokeswoman bigotState Senator Louise Lucas (D-VA) is one of President Obama’s official campaign “Truth Team” surrogates, and this is what she said the other day on the John Fredericks Morning Show, a morning radio talk show in Virginia. Please listen to the full clip.

Transcript:

SENATOR LUCAS: What I am saying to you is Mitt Romney, he’s speaking to a segment of the population, who does not like to see people other than a White man in a White House or any other elected position.

Let’s be real clear about it… let’s be real clear Mitt Romney is speaking to a group of people out there who don’t like folks like Barack Obama in any elected or leadership position. We know what’s going on here and some people may be afraid to say it but I am not. I am not afraid to say it.

He’s speaking to that fringe out there who do not want to see anybody other than a white person in a leadership position. Senator Miller said it before she died and I agreed with her. They don’t want President Barack Obama in office as President and for all the reasons that you and I and alot of other people understand.

HOST: Do you really believe now that this all about race?

LUCAS: I absolutely believe it’s all about race and for the first time I’ve convinced my children finally that racism is alive and well.

HOST: Even in Virginia?

LUCAS: In Virginia how about all across this nation. And especially in Virginia!

HOST: So, do you think race as this campaign goes on through this summer…

LUCAS: We need to have this discussion because it has not become addressed appropriately. And we do need to have that discussion. And I know that there are people who are cringing in their seats because they don’t want to hear it but it’s time that we face the reality that we need to have a national discussion on racial issues

HOST: State Senator, in your view, how do you think the race issue then will be addressed now?

LUCAS: I don’t believe the President can lead this discussion because it would be perceived in a way that would not be beneficial to him because the Republicans will try to make habit but there needs to be some kind of forum to deal with these issues.

All the folks who are saying ‘We don’t like Barack Obama’ they can’t tell you any reason they don’t because President Obama did not create the situation they have, this economic mess we are in, everybody knows this stuff happened under George Bush and they are trying to dump it on the President.

And intelligent people understand that President Barack Obama did not create this mess. And the mess that was created could not be solved in 2 or 3 or 4 years. Intelligent people understand that. But Mitt Romney will go out and play to the fringe and try to play to the fringe by saying it’s all Barack Obama’s fault.

    I wouldn’t care if the person in the White House is white, black, red, checkard or polkadot. The issue is competance and performance. President Obama has had plenty of time to at least start fixing problems you blame on his predecessor.

    One of the problems we have with race relations is we have too many biggots and racists raising future biggots and racists. Have we learned nothing? What seems to be the problem with our current president taking a stand on the racial issue? I believe he’s deliberately using it to his advantage.

    President Obama may be one on the nicest people you could ever meet; but, he has lied to the American public so many times. Why should we put our trust in him for another four years? With the world in its current state, would he run to the challenge or head out to the golf course? I can’t trust him.

    We cannot afford to surrender our freedoms or sovereignty to the federal government or the UN because none of those folks seem to be able to govern yourselves.

    Pardon my being blunt: check your skeletons at the door. You’ll note Mr. Romney has spoken to many groups (kind and not so kind), including the NAACP. It seems to me that Mr. Romney has more experience in economics than the current president’s best experts.

    With due respect, President Obama has had his chance: he even had a democrat majority in both houses of congress for his first two years . . . could have gotten anything he wanted. I think it’s time for a change.

    I was in a coffee shop yesterday and as happens when there are senior citizens around, the subjects came up about the economy, Social Security cuts, Medicare cuts, and the debt and what it will do to our grandchildren’s future. There was a lively discussion for a few minutes without any mention of names until someone mentioned the importance of voting out Obama. Immediately we heard someone on the other side of the room, a Black man, start in with the Mantra about not wanting a Black man in the white house, and those racist Republicans that hate him because he’s Black. It was like a tape playing in the distance. He spouted every platitude I have ever heard plus some more I hadn’t. It was designed to make us uncomfortable and to shut us up. Some of us stood up to him and told him we didn’t say anything about race and didn’t care what color he was, but we don’t like Communists or any other people who hate this country. As we left the shop, he sat there muttering to himself. We are voting for Romney because we feel he can fix the country’s problems. He is voting for Obama because he’s Black. Who’s the real racist?
