Nanny Bloomberg Now Pushing What's "Breast" For Baby : Freedom Outpost

New York mayor Michael Bloomberg just cannot mind his own business. He’s come out in favor of cutting out large sugary drinks in his city, cracking down on smoking, trans fats, salt, called for police to strike until people relinquish their guns and now he’s wanting to stop hospitals from handing out baby formula and persuade new mothers to breastfeed their babies instead.

Now don’t get me wrong here, I agree with health commissioner Thomas Farley that “Human breast milk is best for babies and mothers,” but to then turn around and keep baby formula under lock and key like medications is going a bit too far don’t you think? I mean it isn’t as though baby formula is banned…yet.

Farley also commented, ‘With this initiative the New York City health community is joining together to support mothers who choose to breastfeed.’

“Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative” as it’s being referred to promotes “The benefits of breast feeding to infants, mothers and society are well established . . . Specifically, infants exclusively breast fed for at least six months have a 22 percent reduction in risk for childhood obesity.”

Bloomberg is hoping the plan will spread to between 24-36 hospitals. Those hospitals can apply for federal funding to participate in the program to obtain support and technical assistance and earn the designation as a “Baby-Friendly” facility.

Well isn’t that wonderful? I mean hospitals can promote what comes naturally, a mother feeding her own child from her own body, and if they do this they get more of tax payers hard earned money. Now isn’t that sweet? Talk about being on the government tit!

Incidentally this is also part of the push of First Lady Michelle Obama in her “Let’s Move” campaign to reduce obesity and is also sponsored by the World Health Organization.

As a father of nine my wife has always breastfed our children. There was a time or two where they needed formula simply because there was no milk being produced. But to have nanny mayor Bloomberg telling mothers what is best for them and their babies is not what government should be doing and just demonstrates how even incompetent ‘boobs’ can get into office. I am convinced that Bloomberg must have a breast fetish – or – perhaps mama Bloomberg did not give him enough and so he has decided that he wants to be the breast king of New York!! Since he is one of the 1%centers, being a billionaire, he should give his millions to the mothers that have sagging breasts due to breast feeding……..

I got mastitist after given birth to my first child, there was no way I could breast feed. Mayor Bloomberg needs to leave people alone. The American people should have the right to smoke, eat sugar, drink soda, whatever. We all had Dad’s & Mom’s, we are grown ups ourself now. We don’t need the government treating us like we are all little kid’s. COME ON !

…and what about those new mothers who don’t produce enough milk? Are their children supposed to starve or get it from some AIDS-infected mother who can produce? While I generally oppose abortion, Bloomberg, however is another great example of the need for selective abortion that should have happened with obuttface as well!

Change President”, to start banning all of our rights to make our own grown-up intelligent choices, He, of all people in that age group, would not give up his personal choices, when someone gets ‘emperor happy’., These people need to leave America and find a country they can be happy raising their children under that government. I thought Bloombutt liked choice. Breastfeeding is an incredibly personal thing and does not need any gov’t interference. I agree that it is the best way to feed a baby. It is healthier and cheaper. But, it is not a moral issue. It is not a gov’t issue. One more reason to stay out of NYC

I did not breast feed my babies. But my wife did. It all depends upon the circumstances. But if the mayor wants to do something useful, he should blow the whistle on the circumcision of male neonates.

  I’m a long way from Detroit myself….and you might take a clue from what has happened there. After Mayor Cavanaugh (D) there was a succession of mayors that were all democrats and all involved with support from the “entitled”. As a result, Detroit went from a beautiful city of 1.9 million to a wreck of a city with a population of less that 700,000. Kids there graduate at a rate of 25% or less….75% drop out rate, high crime reigns and the city looks like a snake pit. It is also the main reason that the state of Michigan is so close to bankruptcy it’s almost a joke. Liberal racist policy in Detroit did that. Get out of any liberal controlled city and state ASAP….they are wasteland waiting to happen. Don’t let it drag you down with it.
