No doubt vice-president Joe Biden is fuming and casting obscenities at that Democrat National Committee. One has to wonder why he is even being kept on in 2012. One thing is for sure though, come September it won’t be Biden who will be pepping the crowd in Charlotte, North Carolina. Nope, the DNC has decided to just let old Joe keep his mouth shut and accept the nomination with Barack Obama, while “Slick Willy” takes to the stage for the headliner.
The New York Times reports,
The prominent role of Mr. Clinton, which is scheduled to be announced on Monday, signals an effort by the Obama campaign to pull out all the stops to rally Democrats when they gather for their party’s national convention in Charlotte, N.C. An even more important audience will be the voters across the country who will see the address carried by television networks.
“There isn’t anybody on the planet who has a greater perspective on not just the last four years, but the last two decades, than Bill Clinton,” David Axelrod, a top strategist to the Obama campaign, said in an interview on Sunday. “He can really articulate the choice that is before people.”
Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. will appear on the final night of the convention, making the case for Mr. Obama before the largest audience of the week during an outdoor speech at the Bank of America Stadium. The vice president and Mr. Obama will appear together on stage before they accept the party’s nomination for a second term in the White House.
I have to laugh really when I see Axelrod’s comments here. After all when it comes to the Obama campaign, Bill Clinton is not necessarily their friend. He’s more like…..a bull in a china shop.
“The Democrats are saying something like this: ‘We found a big hole that we did not dig. We didn’t get it filled in 21 months, but at least we quit digging. Give us two more years. If it doesn’t work, vote us out.’”
He was the one who said it was a bad move on the Obama campaign’s part to go after Mitt Romney and called his time at Bain a “stellar career.”
He was the one calling to extend the Bush Tax Cuts when Team Obama didn’t want to do that.
But hey! If the DNC wants to let the bull loose again at their national convention, all it can do it break more stuff, right? So I say let old Bill loose and there is probably going to be some damage done during the event. Both Clinton and Obama are ego-maniacs so I’m expecting lots of sound bytes from this speech. I’m sure Joe Biden was thinking what a BFD he would have been at the convention.
