Bloomberg: Police Shouldn't Protect Americans Until There Is More Gun Control

Well New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has done it again and demonstrated how stupid he really is. On CNN's Big Story with Piers Morgan, Bloomberg made an utterly ridiculous comment that is almost on par with his views on Big Gulp drinks.

"Well I would take it one step further. I don't understand why the police officers of this country don't stand up collectively and say, 'We're gonna go on strike. We're not going to protect you unless you, the public, through your legislature do what's required to keep us safe (ie. more gun control). After all police officers want to go home to their families."

This comment came in response to Morgans question, "Why do so many Americans not feel angry enough to demand further gun control?"

Bloomberg went on to say,

"We're doing everything we can to make their job more difficult, but more importantly more dangerous by leaving guns in the hands of people who shouldn't have them and letting people who have those guns buy things like armor piercing bullets. The only reason to have armor piercing bullets is to go through bullet resistant vests. The only people who wear bullet resistant vest are our police officers and that's true across this whole country. So, we should at some point, we have to understand that this is our children or grandchildren or us, but for the police officers it's much more immediate because when you and I hear shots we run away. They run towards it."

When I heard this I turned to my wife and asked rhetorically, "How do morons like Mr. Bloomberg get in office? Let's deal with his argument here.

First he says that the police should go on strike and not protect citizens till they enact more gun laws. OK fine, police go on strike, they stop getting paid. We pay them to perform a job and honestly it isn't really protection they provide. Plenty of police officers were right there at the theater in Aurora, Colorado and did they protect anyone? Nope, not one person. Police officers are to enforce the law and that is why they are referred to as law enforcement officers. If they don't want to do their jobs, then let them step aside and find another line of work.

Gun control laws will not protect police officers and they will not protect citizens. I demonstrated that on Monday A piece of paper protects from a speeding bullet about as well as those police officers did in Aurora. I'm not taking a shot at police officers here. What I'm doing is pointing out Bloomberg's fallacies.

Officers want to go home to their families like we all do. Police officers also have a weapon they carry with them too. Why then should law-abiding citizens not be allowed to keep and bear their arms all day so that they might return home to their families Mr. Bloomberg?

We are not doing anything to make police officers' jobs more difficult or dangerous. If you have people who have shown themselves to be a threat deal with that, but leave the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens alone.

Bloomberg goes of on a ridiculous notion about armor piercing bullets. OK, let's get this out in the open. I wrote about this very topic as New Jersey was putting in place a law to ban ammunition. Most law enforcement wear Level II-A protective vests that stop 9mm and .40 bullets. So that means that if strictly taken for armor piercing all other ammunition would be banned. This means you would be unable to get ammo for your AR-15, many hunting rifles and even some handguns, such as your trusty .45.

Also some citizens can purchase these items to protect themselves. So Mayor Bloomberg is just not being honest here. The police officers are not the only ones wearing such protection and you don't need "armor piercing" bullets to penetrate the vests most police officers wear.

He is right about one thing though. It is about us, our children and grand children. It's about whether or not we are going to live in a land where a corrupt government and criminals are the only ones with guns and we are at the mercy of both, neither or which are able to protect us in a time of crisis.

  1. Morons like Bloomberg [zionist] get in office because he has enough
money to make it happen. He stays in office for the same reason. He acts
like a dictator and changes law to suit "his" needs.... like to remove
the restriction on how many times he can be elected to the same office.

Bloomberg is the worst kind of human being. Sorry, but I don't even have a word or definition for what Bloomy is.

"shaking-my-head-in-complete-disbelief" moment comes when I see the
people of NY talk about him as though he IS the god he thinks he is.

    Great website, great writing.

someone needs to remind this Gas Bag, he has Paid protection from Tax payers, the New York State Police, and that the Supreme court ruled years ago, Police are NOT for the protection if Individuals...only the Masses....that worked well in LosAngeles didnt it ?, remind Gas Bag the Second Amendment isnt about Self Protection, it's "Being necessary for the Security of a FREE State", meaning protection from Tyrants, and Gas Bags wanting to Dis Arm us, just before they Tyrannize us....

  3. Michael Bloomberg is a typical politician, he has very little knowledge of the functions of other political departmental functions. The police very, very seldom protects the public from crimes. Mostly they are their to mop up after the fact of a criminal act. Ninety percent of the time it is the citizens first responsibility to self-protection. Bloomberg’s mentality is the results of bad sex practices of his parents. His mind can not function as a normal person, he only is capable of doing something that he feels is best for himself. That is the sole reason he got into politics and that he was incapable of accomplishing success in normal life.

In Australia no one has access to these ridiculous weapons that are freely available in US. All of us here sleep very well at night knowing that deranged people or anyone for that matter can not attain them. Automatic weapons? There is no logical justification for them at all. The only reasoning I have seen for them in articles written by pro gun activists is how fun they are. lol. So fun is worth more than all those lives in Aurora? Hello? Bang Bang Bang. Sport? Please. I am 100% sure that the majority of people in the US wish these weapons of mass death were not available. The gun lobby - more importantly the producers of these weapons and their ammunition and those who deal them - are the only people benefiting from their existance. Stand up Americans and stop these selfish people who have no respect for life placing you and your families in harms way. By the way I think all Americans should be taught what the word bigotry means from a very young age. How shallow can a person be to get excited over the instant gratification of shooting a weapon and seeing the results of the bullet hitting it's target. Boring!!!! "Wow look what I did. Bang Bang. I am so powerful". Purely moronic and childish. Get a life gun tooters!!! Do something creative instead of destructive. Purely moronic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ps infidel48 who previously commented about the Australian gun control situation is full of crap and obviously is speaking on behalf of the gun lobby who do not wish to lose profits from gun and ammunition sales. There have been no mass slayings in Australia since the new gun control laws have been introduced. That is a total win people. A total win.

Your right-wing propaganda totally missed the point.

Even your premise contains a lie so far out in right-wing field, I'm shocked none of your Conservative allies have called you the fool it shows you to be: "We pay them [police officers] to perform a job and honestly it isn’t really protection they provide."

Excuse me? Have you never heard of "To Serve and Protect"?

And then there's your incredible distortion of the facts about gun control.

Gun control laws aren't there to "take guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens." Tighter controls are meant to make it more difficult for people who should NOT be holding guns to get them. Do you really want your "law-abiding" neighbor, who happens to be under treatment for for diagnosed schizophrenia, and who, when he neglects to take his medication HEARS VOICES TELLING HIM HIS NEIGHBORS ARE "OUT TO GET" HIM to have a legal gun to USE against his neighbors during his bouts of paranoia?

The easier it is for an unvetted purchaser to acquire guns and ammunition, the easier it is for the people you SHOULD fear, law-BREAKING "citizens," to also acquire guns and ammunition.

Stricter registration and vetting laws will make it more difficult for everyone, INCLUDING THE CRIMINAL to get a gun. But it will NOT make it impossible for law-abiding citizens to do so. Such legislation just cannot "take guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens," who will have no trouble "qualifying" to carry.

And finally, why should any "law-abiding" citizen need a fully automatic weapon loaded with armor-piercing ammunition? To protect oneself? Get real. Outside of the actual Armed Forces, this class of weaponry has only two functions: 1, to arm paramilitary groups, and 2, to arm REAL CRIMINALS in their fight against law enforcement officers. A responsible, law-abiding citizen has no legitimate use for military weaponry.

  6. Bloomberg is an idiot. Sorry idiots I did not mean to demean you. Law Enforcement Officers are not going to quit doing their jobs over gun control because most oppose any gun control because we are not going to be Officers all our lives. We will have to defend ourselves against those we have put in jail. Officers in my area of the midwest take their oath seriously and we will not abandon the people. They are our neighbors, friends and relatives.

It must be illegal for people with two passports to hold a government job. It's a no brainer. Such a law would eliminate 70% of the scumbag, traitors, spies, leeches, and crooks we now have in government robbing us blind.

  8. Bloomberg is a fascist.

  9. [email protected] says:

This guy is an Obamanation...What a fool he is. Send the cops home...Yours tooooo.

  10. This idiot is the closest thing to being a full fledged retard that I have ever heard in my 80 years. I would recomend that the police refuse to provide him with any security at all. What a male donkey he is.

  12. Police don't protect citizens now. They are always too late. That's why citizens absolutely have to have the right to bear arms for their defense.

  13. This issue has been to the Supreme Court multiple times and each time they ruled that police have no responsibility to protect individual citizens, just the public in general. They did not enter the theater in Aurora or the University of Virginia. They only have the responsibility to pick up the bodies and do the paperwork. They will not protect you! You are responsible for your own protection.

  14. In response to this, I'm really happy to announce that I have never looked to police for protection. I do rely on the police to "police" the situation after the fact and that pretty much sums it up.

  15. This dude needs to go in the front line of a AK-47. He needs to smarten up and read the constitution

  16. Bloombird is king of Manhattan because he bought it.
He with the most bucks win.
Now that the people see what he really is, let's hope they are awake and get rid of this mayorial fraud.

  17. Wonder who elected this MORON ??

  18. The people of New York should take a lesson from Athens Tennessee;
The Battle of Athens (sometimes called the McMinn County War) was a rebellion led by citizens in Athens and Etowah, Tennessee, United States, against the local government in August 1946. The citizens, including some World War II veterans, accused the local officials of political corruption and voter intimidation. The event is cited by firearms ownership advocates as an example of the value of the Second Amendment in combating tyranny.

  19. "Bloomberg: Police Shouldn’t Protect Americans Until There Is More Gun Control"

That's the best freaking advice I've heard in months! I agree with Bloomberg wholeheartedly! Fire the cops, issue guns to all law abiding citizens, and see how quickly the criminals in that area look for a safer venue in which to ply their respective trades (rape, assault, robbery, etc.). Eliminate the gun control, and put the control back in the hands of the citizens. Where it belongs. I don't need a cop to protect me - that's what my compliance with the second amendment is for. I was once the target of an attempted carjacking, and another time an intruder entered my home in the wee hours of the morning when my husband was out of town. Had I waited for police assistance in either instance, my children and I would all likely have been killed. It's amazing what effect a 20 gauge or a .45 will do when displayed to an armed intruder. Both would-be attackers left without engaging me in further discussion...
