The Difference Between Wide Receiver & Fast And Furious

While the White House, Eric Holder, and the liberal talking heads continue blaming Bush for the Obama administrations fumbles in the Fast and Furious gun walking operation gone bad, they cannot see the distinct difference between operation Wide Receiver and operation Fast and Furious. The differences are fairly profound and distinct.

The main differences are these: Wide Receiver involved Phoenix-based ATF agents, working with Mexican law enforcement in an attempt to build a case against violent Mexican drug smugglers. Fast and Furious on the other hand was an effort to make a case against American gun dealers and the Second Amendment of the United States. Both were orchestrated by their respective administrations with completely different goals. One was to go after criminals and the other was to go after the Constitution and law abiding citizens.

Operation Wide Receiver began in 2005 and it involved 400 guns. Every weapon had RFID trackers installed on them and they were continually tracked. The Phoenix ATF and the DOJ were the ones actively involved in the operation, tracking the guns to see which cartels they would end up at for the purposed of informing the Mexican government as to where they were.

Unlike the Obama administration, the Bush administration notified the Mexican government when the weapons crossed their border. We know that at least 1,440 arrests were made a part of Wide Receiver.

Once the smugglers found out they were being tracked, they located the RFID trackers and ripped them out. The program was immediately shut down as a result in October 2007.

Now fast forward to October of 2009. Operation Wide Receiver has been shut down now for 2 years. It is not ongoing as the White House would have people believe. Enter Fast and Furious during Barack Obama’s tenth month in office. This operation involved 2,500 guns. There were virtually no tracking devices on these weapons. Katie Pavlich points out that out of all of these guns there were two that contained trackers, one of which was homemade. They also had 40 hour battery lives on them, so there was no way they could seriously think they could track these weapons.

In addition to the negligence of trackers on the weapons walked across the border into Mexico, there was virtually no surveillance. There were no helicopters, planes or anything. The operation was conducted by four federal agencies in as many as ten cities in five states.

Unlike operation Wide Receiver, the Mexican government was not even made aware that the program even existed.

Not once were any of the “bad guys” arrested, nor was there efforts put forth to do so and the program came to an end because of the death of at least 200 Mexican civilians and two American federal agents, border patrol agent Brian Terry and ICE agent Jaime Zapata.

It is widely known that both Eric Holder and Barack Obama are anti-gun and anti-Second Amendment. There past statements leave no doubt that they desire to disarm the American public. Holder has even claimed that he thinks America needs to be “brain washed” concerning guns.

Now we are in the midst of a mess in trying to unravel the details and get our hands on documents that the Justice Department and now Barack Obama himself are seeking to keep hidden. The use of executive privilege by Obama is the tell-tale sign that he is involved and so is Holder. they were not ignorant of what was going on and there weren’t rogue agents running around doing this. They were in the loop and unlike the Bush administration’s attempts to catch real criminals, the Obama administration used the operation as a political maneuver to target the Second Amendment and U. S. gun dealers.

I am so glad I looked this story up, I boiled everytime the dims said BUSH started it with wide reciever so I wanted to get the facts. and once again OB is blaming it on W. who closed his program as soon as the criminals found the tracking devices, once again it shows who is the smart one.

Why do the talking heads get away with inaccurate information? I heard President Bush blamed for about a week on this subject. And even on FOX, nobody challenged them. Are the commentators that dumb?

Well, the big thing Holder is claiming, as well is the White House, is that Eric Holder shut this operation down. Well, how can you shut an operation down if you say you knew nothing about it. Which side of his face is he lying with?

I think the Mexican government should bring holder, obama, and any others involved in this before the World Court on civil rights charges that they are responsible for the murder on Mexican Nationals. The UN should look into this since they are so big on gun control laws. If I straw purchase a gun I go to jail. Are they any better tham I, a tax paying Christian, believer in the Constitution that clings to my guns.

I cannot think of ANY reason that all involved in this scam from Obamass to Holder to Napolitano as well as staff and agents in the loop should not spend CONSIDERABLE time in federal prison , and especially Obamass as a warning to future presidents that federal prison is not out of the question for ANY criminal regardless of office . As far as the constitution and the vow to protect it from all enemies foreign and domestic this is no less than outright TREASON , and this is just ONE of his treasonous activities since taking office .

Very simple! Strengthen Mexican gangsters, and they will increase their activity. When that activity increases, there will be an increase in anti-Mexican sentiment among white Anglos in the US. That will not, however, cause all of them to go against the Democrats. That increased anti-Mexican feeling will, however, lead to a siege mentality among Mexican-Americans who WILL all vote FOR the Democrats. If, in southwestern states, white voters vote 60-40 Republican while Mexican-Americans vote 80-20 Democrat and black voters go 95-5 Democrat, Democrats win those states. If the Democrats win Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and Colorado, they win the presidential elections. The GOP basically needs to win at least three of those four, given the patterns in the other states.

Why when documents held up with all the blackened out words do the democrats turn a blind eye and say…well they did hand over documents. They did hiding what the documents say….The explanation of the difference is so clear…George Bush is a wise man staying silent…I miss him as our president and I can see why he feels free to be a private citizen….He is brave and strong and he put up with a lot and still does since he continually gets blamed for this presidents problems.

I pray and pray more and more gets exposed where it cannot be denied what this man is doing to our country.

Of course the Congress should act before we go to war. If we find solid evidence that Iran is about to put nukes on a ship and send them to New York, our Congress should immediately begin discussion on declaring war. That process couldn’t take more than a few weeks. With that decision made we should advise Iran by telling them what day and time our attack will take place. What could possibly go wrong?

The Democrats in the Oversight Committe have been trying to connect the two programs in order to blame Bush. THANK YOU for speaking the truth, especially when it comes from someone who understands the law, but puts it into layman’s terms so that anyone can clearly understand what has been blatantly obvious all along: this administration is nothing but a bunch of Chicago thugs, doing whatever they want to do, whenever they want, however they want, with no respect for our laws, our foundation, our values and ideals. Here we have “collusion” by 4 people in high office – -starting with obama-soetoro, then on to holder, “big fat sis” AND bilious hillary. I would bet a month’s pay, the order came from the oval office; it was obama-soetoro’s “manufactured crisis” that would give him an “excuse” to remove our 2nd Amendment Rights, but it back fired “big time”! The other 3 claim “no knowledge” of the operation till they heard about it on the news! OK, then explain why those same 3 were in Mexico, together, in March 2009, introducing the program to Calderon? Incidentally, Calderon also “claimed ignorance”!

  Jack Holley….Have you forgotten that the Democrats had complete control of the White House and Congress from the day Obama was inaugurated until 1/11. Fast & Furious was formed October 2009 and the Democrats had full control until 1/2011. The Democrats could have done anything they wanted to with full control of the House from 10-2009 until 1/2011…Nancy could have covered all of the thousands of pages!

As a retired law enforcement officer here is my take:
The most basic reason that Holder, Obama and the “Dims” are fighting full disclosure of “Fast and Furious” involvement by high placed officials in the Obama administration is the following:
Fact #1. The people that started the program and then allowed it to continue knew at that time that the majority of the guns were going to end up in the hands of drug cartels or their members on both sides of the border.
Fact #2. According to testimony by whistle blowers; no effort was made to track the weapons purposely. In fact when complaints were made about the lack of tracking efforts, agents were ordered to “stand down”.
Fact #3. These same people knew that these guns would be used to kill people. They also knew that some of the people killed would be innocents. This is what happens when you help criminals get guns. Especially vicious criminals in the drug cartels who knowingly and purposely use terror to promote their activities without any regard as to innocent victims.
If you believe that fact 1, Fact 2 and Fact 3 above are true, then:
Those involved should be arrested, indicted and then tried for being knowing and active participants in promoting terrorism against citizens of both Mexico and the United States. They are in fact accessories to mass murder. Holder should not just be held in contempt of Congress; a special prosecutor should be appointed by Congress to begin indictments for criminal charges against Holder and any others who put this Fast and Furious in place and facilitated its implementation.
The elements of a crime are “unity of act and intent” F&F meets that criteria. The intent was to put firearms into the hands of narcoterrorists and then continue that program after guns began turning up at crime scenes to support more gun control regulations. The act was “walking the guns” and telling gun shops to keep selling to the straw buyers even after they began to question the sales encouraged by the ATF. If the president was aware and allowed this program it is not a misdemeanor, it is a massive series of high crimes. It now seems that Obama was complicit. How else can he invoke “executive privilege”?
The obstruction by the present administration is in fact a concerted effort to close and lock any door that opens to the truth and to weld shut the manholes covering the cesspool that is being exposed.

  R. Cook, I agree with you. I want to add a couple of key points: Because: 1.) Straw purchases are illegal under Federal law;
  2.) The officials of the U.S. government who ordered or authorized the 2,500 guns in Fast and Furious to be sold to the straw purchasers who delivered the guns to known criminals in the Mexican drug cartels did so in violation of Federal law; 3.) The natural, predictable result of this illegal criminal enterprise was that the guns that were illegally transferred to the Mexican drug cartels would be used to commit crimes of violence, including murder; Therefore, the U.S. government officials who ordered or authorized the illegal operation and each of the illegal gun transactions should be charged with conducting or participating in organized criminal activity in violation of the RICO statute, and they should be charged with felony murder for each of the 200 people who have been murdered with the guns that were illegally transferred to the murderers in the illegal Fast and Furious operation. Further,
  now that the Atty General and the President are obstructing the House committee’s search for the truth in the matter, they have made themselves accessories after the fact to the RICO violations and to each of the felony murders involved in this illegal criminal enterprise.
